Just switched the tv on for something to watch with me tea, and caught this great prog on the budget ferry co. Speedferries.
Bloke who owns the company, a Dane called Kurt someone or other, seems a great guy, really switched on.(unlike me, obviously). He's taking on the big boys, who have resorted to the most amazing dirty tricks campaign. The major ferry companies not only blatantly operate a cartel, but seem also to have Dover Port Authority in their pockets, and you'd have to wonder who else. It was amazing to see how often a 'broken down' ferry was available to block the birth of the Speedferries catamaran. Seems Kurt has got his own back a bit by getting this prog on, on mainstream tv at a popular evening slot.
It's fantastic to see a man take on such an enterprise as this guy has. God, it makes me feel inadequate.
Remember who the good guys are this summer, and who the baddies are when we are crossing the channel at the narrow bit.

Was a great documentary. Evidence certainly pointed to some dirty tricks from the big boys. The guy deserves to succeed given the effort he put in - not many CEOs take the time to get stuck into the customer relations stuff. Branson springs to mind, can't think of any others off the top of my head.
I know where I'll be going if I need to get across the channel...

Yep, P&O, Sea France and Eurotunnel can take their cartel and shove where the sun don't shine!
Went across with Speed Ferries in September and can't recommend them highly enough. The speed to get from Dover to Bolougne is highly impressive, it was only 45 minutes, and it's a fair bit further than Dover-Calais.
Watched Trouble at the Top tonight and Curt Stavis came across as a genuinely nice bloke, and considering all that he's had to put up with, he's done an immense job to get (and keep) Speed Ferries going. I wish them all the best in the future.
