Some quick shots of the work done today...

We're REALLY happy with how things are going.. just a real shame the weather was crap today and didn't let us get any nice shots!

very nice

I hope you picked all that litter up

the steering, erm, wheel doesn't look to comfy. Is it possible to steer the thing much anyway?

That is wonderful - what a great hobby. You'll have to record the engine and post it on PH when you next light it up.

Cheers for the comments guys ..

Don't worry, this one isn't built for cornering, just A -> B asap please driver.. and don't spare the horses!!!

At the moment, we don't know how much power it's putting out, we still need to get it on the rollers, but it's a 406CI Chevy SB, with aluminium heads, roller rockers, a large Holley carb, hedderman Hustler headers, MSD ignition, edelbrock intake and some other bits and bobs... it could be between 250 & 450 horse... I'll let you know when we do!

Steering wise, there's not a lot of lock, but there's enough, because the wheelbase is so long, if it does step the arse out, it's really easy to catch, so we don't need that much lock... Getting onto the nearside lane @ Avon Park (Shakespeare County) might be interesting though!

The Nova is an ex-autograss car.. just sat there for storage... we've already built a couple of other nova's out of the "skunk works", the dragster is the 27th car to have been built up there, the 28th has already passed thru..

We've been working on this for 18 months now, it's been an incredible learning experience for me, and great great fun....

Sparking up the V8 is absolutely amazing, it's the kind of noise that makes you feel alive!

Veeeery nice work there !!

I know what you mean about the V8 engine starting, Last week we fired up my Ford 351w powered race cobra for the first time since the engine build . She snorted to life with an almighty roar thru the sidepipes..made the hairs on neck stand up "SHE'S ALIIIIIVE" all 8 cylinders firing to spit out 400bhp with a snarl that actually scares you a bit

It makes all the hard work worth it so best of luck at the 1/4 mile

Just out of interest - how do you go about warming up a dragster before a run? Let it idle?

Pretty much so, with the odd stab of half throttle..

Just pop down to an RWYB you'll here them going off all day!

Looks bloody brilliant fella, to the point where I'm getting tempted to sell the racer and build one Okay 11 seconds is rather less fun that I usualy expect for my money but its meant to be quality rather than quantity isn't it ;-)

We need a PH meeting when it first runs!!

Indeed chaps. I'd hop over the channel to see and hear *that* thing in anger and meet up with you folks again after the brilliant fun we had in the rain at Brunters last fall .
