Rather optimistic price considering these ones - www.lotus-carlton.co.uk/cars_for_sale/cars_for_sale.htm
Rather pricey, and don't expect running costs to be anything like similar to grandad's Carlton 2.0 Diplomat!
There was an article in the Club Lotus magazine a while back detailing maintenance and parts costs. Brake and clutch components, in particular, were pretty scary even by Porsche/Ferrari standards!

Personally.. if I was picking someting for "coolness" in todays parlence, I'd go for this:

That Dodge pickup is a horrible old barge!
Lotus Carlton - superb choice. I have been lucky enough to drive one, and an E34 Nurburgring suspension-equipped series M5 is a better car handling wise than the Lotus ever was - but the Loyus is a scary, oversteering, ludicrous speed orgy of drama and fun, complete with occasionally scary turbo lag.
I'd have one over any other sports saloon, except the current M5.

I've only skimmed though them, but have already seen a 3 owner 70k mile example at £16,000. Given that the PH ad is for a 2 owner 58k mile example for a premium of £4k then that doesn't sound too outrageous to me.
I base this purely on the price premiums for really low mileage Elan SE Turbos and Corrado VR6s, having obviously done research on them (for buying purposes for the former and selling purposes for the latter).

Utterly Cool. remember one blasting past me when I was walking home from school once, and thinking I have got to have one of those!!!!!!
looks nice for 58k, but £20k? way too rich.
especially with this:-
Vauxhall Lotus Carlton 3.6 24V twin turbo, 1991, 0031G, 6-speed manual, Imperial Green, Black Leather interior, 63k miles, 5 owners, no current MOT, no current road tax, alarm, ABS, air conditioning, alloys, CD player, central locking, electric windows, immobiliser, PAS, sun roof. Been in storaga 10 month needs paint on front bumper but otherwise in good condition quick sale needed due to house purchase. £8,900 ono.
I'll have one to drive, and one for spares please.......
