Everyone alive and well?
Discussion
Still up at 3am here
and browsing the PH and BBC website trying to keep up to tabs with everything when.........EARTHQUAKE!!!!
I know the PH community is spread all over our fair land but I heard it was pretty bad up North. Is everyone okay? And your cars......are they okay too?
I can picture premiums going up throughout the day due to the predicted onslaught of daily earthquakes.

Well I hope everyone is ok too, but this one is just funny I think. Picture this...
Was woken up some time before 1.0am by a sort of low boom followed by several seconds' rumble, general house vibration and the light fittings rattling in the bedroom. Sits bolt upright and thinks "shiiiiiiiiit, someone just started the Chimaera" (the garage is underneath my bedroom). No time for objectivity here, so the normally mild mannered Miss Clarke rockets down the stairs 3 at a time, having successfully made the transition from peaceful slumber to wide-awake and homicidal in 5 seconds flat (an impressive mood-swing, even for me!). Brief pause at the front door to consider whether it would be wise to put some clothes on.... sod it, I'm scarier without. Of course, I got outside to find everything silent and the car perfectly untouched.
Only moderately embarrassed this morning (what a pranny!); thank God the neighbours didn't see me!

Just falling asleep when I heard this massive bang and the whole house and bed shook. Thought it was someone kicking the door in so I tore down stairs armed to the teeth.
Didn't realise it was an earthquake till I saw the papers. It only lasted a few seconds in Marlow, but my mate in Leicester said his house shook for 45 seconds.
Yeah, the whole thing was a bit mad. Strangest moment of the night has to be when I looked outside my window to see what was going on and this mad naked woman with a psychotic expression burst out of her door across the road, looked around as though she was expecting to see the Germans invading and then flew back in the house again.
Very weird.

My wife (bless her) woke me up thinking the same, that someone was trying to steal the 308 !! (again, bedroom over garage). Got me running round the house 1/2 naked, looking for someone (and wondering what I'd do if I FOUND someone !!)
We live in Ashby de la Zouch, not far from B'ham .... it was pretty odd .... I caught about 20 odd seconds of it. Very confusing when you were fast asleep .....
It woke me up with my head vibrating against the headboard (no woman in sight and I don’t use power tools!)
I couldn’t work out that the hell it was, at first I thought the neighbour had installed a silent 8000-WATT washing machine in the next room.
I was glad to hear on the radio that it was a small earthquake and not insanity.

we're about 20 miles from the epicentre and it was well strange... it did seam to last for 20 seconds or so, long enough for me to wake up and think what the ****,
I thought eitheir we were being attacked by aliens or Dubbya had started the war against Iraq and we'd been hit by Friendly Fire !!!!
I went wandering about the house starkers looking out all of the windows, there were loads of peeps stood around out side !!

Earthquake apparently had its epicentre near Dudley in the midlands - latest estimate is that it has caused several hundred thousand pounds worth of improvements ....
LOL - funny looks from the office
Woke me, about 40 miles from epicentre. Usually takes a small bomb to raise me from my slumbers.
