he Festival of Speed is probably the world’s largest and most diverse celebration of the history of motor sport. It is a unique opportunity to see the greatest competition cars and star drivers from all eras in action. Everything from 19th-century steam carriages to current Formula One cars make an appearance and you can be there too, absolutely free, courtesy of The Sunday Times Driving.

On Friday, June 24, 2005, you can stroll among the fabulous racing motorcycles; 2,500bhp land speed record cars and rub shoulders with motor sport legends like Moss, Surtees, Brabham and Unser along with today’s hottest stars such as Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso – all in the breath-takingly beautiful parkland surrounding Goodwood House.

This year's theme is 'Racing Colours — National Pride and Culture', a celebration of the sporting passions of countries around the world. Find out what makes Ferrari so typically Italian and a Mercedes unmistakably German, and explore the elements that characterise the spirit of British, American, French and Japanese racing. [/quote]

I've ordered some, what actually happens on the Friday?

Did this last year.

Have you been before? Friday was good - a lot quieter. OTOH the runs up the hill aren't as consistent. Still plenty of show mind (Red Arrows etc).

Oh and don't forget, IT'S BLOODY FREE!

Excellent, thanks for that

I always go on Friday as it's quieter, and it's a lot easier to take good pictures in the paddock.

No it's not

The amount of quality cars there is truly staggering. And a large percentage of them get driven in anger too

One minute you'll be drooling over a '67 Ferrari P4, the next minute some bloke jumps in, shouts tally ho, and gives it Johnny large potatoes up the hill

Fantastic

whilst that is true, it involves coming in the Marlin at 60mph maximum, around the M25 etc (which I've never done before).

But saying that, I've just finished exams and have bugger all to do which is probably unlike next year!

Well there is that (and it works apart from the buffeting), the other issue with mine is that at 80mph mine is running at 4.5/5krpm, it redlines at 5.5k
