I turned away as Rubens pulled up next to MS, then heard Martin Brundle saying how rubens won.
I've just stopped laughing!

Typical - I doubt if Bernie Eccleston will be too chuffed after trying to woo back the viewers by giving us a few digital TV bits and then the Ferrari's giving us another farce finish!

Must admit to starting to watch it but fell asleep and missed the finish (normal service). I will now have to do something I haven't done in years - watch the highlight(s)

Nice interview with Ross Brawn:

Louise Gooodman: You don't care who won do you Ross?

Ross: Nope.

Class.

So the only interesting bit was 1/1152th of the race (1/16th of all 72 laps) and even then they alienate more of the remaining Farce 1 fans............MoJo

their 8th 1-2 this year!!! A real joke are the other teams turning up for a whipping to see what stunt Ferrari are going to do today to keep it interesting

Just shows how far ahead Ferrari really are that they have to think up games like this to keep themselves amused

Ferrari have waited a long time to be so dominant and I hope they take more opportunities to rub it into that miserable git Ron Dennis he is a blight on human nature whereas FW and PH of Williams are great as they like Ferrari are about racing.

I watched the World Superbike deciders earlier in the day - much more exciting and interesting.

If Bernie wants to spice up the action in F1 qualifying and racing he should.

Reduce weekend tyre sets by 1 but allow unlimited laps in qualifying.

Reduce Aerodynamic downforce but increase mechanical downforce by re-introducing slick tyres (also make them wider (1990's style). Thereby increasing slow speed grip and increasing corner passing zones.

You don't get carbon brakes on roads cars (not really) so re-introducing iron brakes would mean longer braking distances (maybe) but certainly brake conservation. Also this should mean F1 technology directly effecting road car brakes.

Ban re-fuelling, allow teams to run a whole GP on one tank meaning carefull conservation on tyres if they want to go a whole race on one set or faster running if they want to pit for a tyre change.

Only allow max of 6 (not including lolly pop man, or jack men) to work on a car during a pit stop.

Ban all electronic driver aids such as auto-downshifting, launch control (difficult I know).

Allow teams to run more than 2 cars if desired.

Open radio frequencies (CART style). Now wouldn't that have been interesting in the US GP!!!!!

All cars designed to accomodate a driver up to 6ft4 (Use Justin Wilson as guide).

Bernie I am available for consultation at anytime just drop me an email, you know what it is!

I've gotta say I agree with just about all those comments. F1 has been a procession for far too long, I've stopped bothering to watch even the highlights

The Superbikes has been far more interesting this season, granted only two riders took race wins throughout the season, but in most races you get overtaking, dicing and riders trying to put moves on the competition from flag to flag. And the competition went down to the very last race, when was the last time that happened in F1 (p.s. I know the answer, I'm just trying to empahsise a point).

Bernie and the gang have got to do some serious thinking to stop the whole thing from dying a dull death. A lot the changes suggested above would certainly help increase entertainment for the fans. For years the speeds and traction have been artificially tampered with through rule changes to increase safety for drivers etc in the wake of Senna and Ratzenburger's deaths. Surely technology has moved on enough to go back to having things like full slick tyres, no compulsory re-fuelling etc? The teams would then have to think about ways of beating the opposition on the track, rather than largely depending on pitstops.

Surely the fans should be entitled to more excitement - overtaking, the odd kamikazee move on the last laps etc?

I thought the race was better than most, to be honest. And Rubens and Schuey did seem to be actually racing each other until about 15 laps from the end when the team obviously said "alright lads, you've had your race, now turn down the wick and lets bring it in for a Ferrari 1-2, we don't want a fiasco like Williams had today". Its just a pity that they went and ballsed it up with the farce of a finish.

For me, F1 is not about the racing. Its about the tactics, the teams, the politics, the technology, etc. If we get good racing as well then its a bonus.
For good racing I'll watch Australian V8 Supercars and the like, or go to clubman racing.

Obviously something needs to be done in F1, but I think that if you mess with it too much then it will become just another single-seat formula series like any other, and I think that would be a real shame.

Why would that be bad? All the single-seat racing that I have seen has been pretty exciting.
I'm all for it myself....
Motor-racing is supposed to be about racing; the tactics, the teams, the politics, the technology, etc. are all interesting enough, but shouldn't be allowed to get in the way of racing. All IMHO of course.

I can't wait for Suzuka on October 13th. My inside sources within Maranello have tipped me off that Schumacher and Barrichello will seek to trump the one remaining record not held by the Italian Marque. Test drivers Badoer and Burti have been putting hours into testing to help the team achieve this historic milestone. Indeed my sources confirm that several chassis have been written off in the process.

After dominating the race they will again draw level a hundred yards from the finish line. They will then each execute a perfectly controlled, 180 degree spin, before crossing the finishing line, in a dead heat, backwards......

Only then will V. Brambilla's record of being the only driver to have won a race backwards be beaten and trumped 27 years later. I might just stay awake to see it happen.......

As daft as that sounds it's not a bad idea, Rossi is currently dominating MotoGP but everyone loves him, adding a bit of excitment to the finish line celabrations can only be a good thing.
Take a hint from Rossi, wheelies might be a bit tricky but the 'stopped for speeding' bit was great and a few post race do-nuts may liven things up a bit.
