polish,what is the BEST for black

My bike is black,and I'm a complete fanatic about getting the best shine POSSIBLE.

But,using my usual technique,I'm getting a very fine smear when looking at the surface when light bounces of it.From most angles its a deep,glossy black,but in certain light it, at times, looks cack...

any advice ?,only the most anal of perfectionists may reply !! , as the bike IS very,VERY shiny already!,normal people ( friends and family ) think it cant get any better,I know it can..!! heh

Most of the resin based polishes (eg: Autoglym etc) are useless on dark colours as they leave the residue that you are seeing from certain angles. One method is to use a microfibre cloth (eg: e-Cloth) to get rid of the smears, but it's not perfect. Autoglym have just released a new polish called 'Ultra Deep Shine' which is aparrently better suited to dark coloured cars (or bikes I guess).

If you really want to step it up a grade, try P21S's products.

Allegedly the nose-cone paint on the Tornado is very shiny aand very hard wearing. Rumour control has it that it can pass inspection on a pair of parade drill boots....

For the best 'shine' I don't think you will beat a Carnuaba wax; one of the best for black is a product known as Pinnacle Souveran; below is a link to a dark metallic and the results achieved:

However, the key thing to remember is that it is preparation of the surface that determines the shine, not the wax (although that is a factor; they are not all the same). This means removing any embedded debris with clay, and polishing to remove swirl marks and spider webbing etc.

Mothers .... no doubt for me. I have tried must others and nothing gives the same depth of shine and more importantly everything else seems to leave swirls which the Mothers process I use does not ..

Zymol

Use the HD cleanse first, followed by one of the carnuba waxes. There are different ones for different colours. Always use a straight motion rather than circular.

One word of warning though, it's quite easy to get fanatical once you see what's achievable.

Zymol, Swissol, Maguires, Zaino depending on budget.

Large amounts of bullshit marketing on this type of product so up to you what you think is a reasonable spend.

Don't buy the cheap zymol halfords sell, its crap. You need the proper range if you get there stuff. As mentioned above you also need to get the microfibre clothes & applicators etc as they are half the secret.
