Top Gear BMW

Just saw a brief top gear thing featuring a test drive of a BMW 3 series.

Was mostly seen in the inside lane and changed lanes twice without indicating.

Maybe it is the car and not the driver.... :scratchchin:

I was quite amused by the BMW on World's Wildest Police Videos tonight. Despite Mr Teeth's hand-down-his-trousers comment that the police Camaro had 350bhp and the BMW only 240, they still couldn't catch it. Until it broke down

When driving I was told the 6 methods:-
Mirror - No
Signal - No
Maneuver - Yes flick wheel into any lane required.

Position - Anywhere including straddling white line.
Speed - Variable
Look - at what? This is MY lane !

I watched this program and, as a BMW owner, you can't win! Basically, they were saying that if you want the best small exec car then then the new 3 Series is definitely the one to buy. On the other hand, if you don't want to be branded with the "badge snobbery" image then buy a Mazda.

Here's my point: In the past TG have a accused Beemer owners of being more interested in the badge than the car. Now they're saying best to buy an inferior car because it doesn't have a certain badge. What a bunch of hypocrites. Surely you buy the best car for the money, do you not?

I'm afraid Mr Bangle has put me right off BMWs for the foreseeable future. Now I have a lovely S-Type and very pleased with it

BMW's may be a little more expensive than they are actually worth, but i think they are very good cars. Ironically they seem quite unpretentious to me, rather a practically designed car (3-series) with focus on engineering and the drive. I doubt ill convince many on here though

Its not BMW's fault idiots drive their cars too.

They did also seem to say that it was the best, but cost noticably more for it. From that point of view the choice isn't clear cut unless you're in the market for that kind of car with no limit on your budget. Equally, just as the Mondeo has fallen out of favour for being ubiquitous, they seemed to suggest that BMW might be heading the same way.

Anyway as a BMW owner, no, you're not allowed to win

My guess is that he wasn't a copper, but had merely acquired/borrowed an old coppers leather suit. Police bikers are generally very experienced both in cars and on bikes, before joining that division IIRC, so they wouldnt have signed someone up on a CBT!

I thought that to so watched it again and it appears that he was indicating but you can hardly see the indicators with those clear lenses.

Mind you I thought he spent most of the time in the middle lane so you cant win.

fyi in M3 circles this is quite a well known vid and the conclusion is the ending is fake, the video has been doctored
