How about you?

Frankfurt to Glasgow - 18 Hours

Filled up in Frankfurt, filled up again in Belgium, crossed to Dover and made it all the way to Glasgow with the fuel from Belgium.

Did Einhoven to Cambridge via Dover on one tank, and not slowly either, on more than one occasion, 300 miles?

Not sure how big the tank is, probably about 50 litres.

Good aerodynamics I guess...

... but thinking about it my old mini 1000(fred)would cruise at 80 to 85 and turn in a a scary 60Mpg!

438 miles on 20 litres!

I was very Impressed! North Ayrshire to Cambridge via A76, M6, A66, A1(M), A14! Only took 6 hours too cruising at 80!
So Going by that I should have been able to do 880 miles on a tank of petrol!

Not a F*cking chance

Singapore to Lisbon around South Africa without stopping or refuelling just before Desert Storm (didn't fancy Suez just then). Took 6 weeks at 12 knots, about 12000 miles or so.

I managed Bournemouth to Minehead on £2.50 of petrol - it was on a C70 Stepthrough though! (Took 4 hours because it kept overheating!)

Back when I was in College - Montgomery, Alabama to North Bay (Toronto Area) Canada. 1237 miles - 2 fuel stops 18 hours (I fractured a few speed limits en route).

...of course, this was back in my younger days with a few friends from school. So what did we do when we arrived?

Well... of course

Someone, whilst watching Ski Sunday and hearing David Vine say "next week we come from the most famous downhill race of all - the Hahnenkamm" made the mistake of admitting to have worked in Kitzbuhel and if we wanted to go - it could all be arranged free.....

Only problem was work - four of us left Edinburgh Friday afternoon at 1.00pm, drove non-stop, only real break being the ferry crossing, averaged 120+ through Belgium before it started to rain in Germany and arrived knackered in Kitzbuhel at 10.30am Saturday morning.

Dropped our bags off at a friends flat - watched the race, returned to the flat, slept for a couple of hours, went out to friends favourite restaurant, got horribly drunk, skiied the next morning for three hours before jumping back in the car a driving home.....

Got back into Edinburgh at 4.30 am Monday morning and went to work - absolutely buggered. Round trip of 2400 miles in 64 Hours in a BMW 325i coupe - it never quite felt the same....

Guilty as charged! Although when I posted that I still had a good hour to spare! If only I'd gone and got some petrol rather than carried on reading though! Anyone else been late due to Pistonheads?

A FS1E was a yamaha moped which looked a bit like one of them, I didn't know what that was so I called it a FS1E as a generalism!!

I think FS1E means Five Speed 1 Exhaust, but i'm not 100% on that

About 20 Imperial Gallons to the nautical mile or about a quarter of a million gallons for the voyage.
