Was just thinking about cars that float my boat and just was wondering how my styling tastes stacked up against other PHers.

Personally to my mind, the most beautiful car ever made (albeit only 2 cars) is the Jaguar XK-180. Personally that one REALLY did it to me... it's the only car that I've ever seen first up and just literally stood drop-jawed looking at it. It's just a shame that it, and its evolution the F-Type, will probably never see the light of day. Personally too Ilike the XJ220
I also LOVE the Tuscan and the Esprit (how's THAT for poles apart ) and as a classic timeless design I'd have to also note the Series 1 Lotus Elite.

What do YOU think?

Another vote for the Ferrari 288 GTO; quite the most beautiful (automotive) object I have ever laid eyes on.

My favourite contempory car is almost certainly the Aston Martin Vanquish, but the car that made my jaw drop the first time I saw one and has left a real lasting impression is the Bugatti Atlantic.

You guy's are way off the pace and aesthetically challenged.

Have you never wondered at the sleek lines, womanly curves, exquisite use of reflected light allied to the dynamism and dichotomy of speed and space on a Vauxhall Viva or Hillman Avenger ?

I dont think you can mention Car and Beautiful without mentioning the 288GTO and the 355. I am not even that much of a Ferrari fan!

Matt.

So would I, but I don't think the trade in would be that good as she died years ago!!!

Oh, and the ItalDesign Alfa Brera is a fantastic piece of work. But it's a concept, so I guess that doesn't count?

Luvverly! Weren't they going to try this on the US public & build it if the demand was there?

I would have loved to include the Aston Vanquish as I think the car's exterior looks flawless. Shame they couldn't be arsed about the arse.

I wish they would, but I thought they'd abandoned it due to Fiat's dire financial state.

Ok so maybe I'm biased but...

When I first saw the Griff at the motorshow in '90 (or whenever it was). I wanted one so much it hurt. It took me 10 years to get one but god its worth it.

It may not have the exclusivity of a dancing donkey, and PHers may have got too used to them, but in my eyes its the most stunning piece of car design in the last 25 years.

Just my opinion....

Cheers Dan

I'm not a TVR fan but I think the early grifs with the 5 spoke wheels are absolutely fantastic looking.

Most stunning to me is Ferrari 250 GT SWB (not the gto)
followed by the 355 & 288 gto equally. Purely on looks -so please no dancing donkey lovers hate mail- i realy dont like the 360

Porsche 356 Speedster stunning looking too.

edited coz i couldnt spell the!
