First Time...

Today I experienced driving a [i]real[/i] manual shift car. It's an '02 or '03 Mustang, and a relative let me use it since she is currently out of town. I taught myself (yes, we Americans actually have to teach ourselves...) to drive manual on an old Escort... but this was the first time I've driven manual on a decent car, and in traffic. Only stalled thrice, IIRC. Though I did feel like a woman ;) when I left the parking brake on for a few miles.

Very, very boring. But it leaves you time to fiddle with the stereo and such. Though sometimes I shift with the automatic to amuse myself...

For me it would depend on how good the "flappy paddle" shift system was...not ever having owned a 'rari or Bimmer with that kind of system...

Must try one at some point...

The first time I did, I lifted my left foot, and went to change gear. Problem was I stood on the brake (big pedals in an auto). I nearly went through the fking windscreen!!!

I drive dads auto alot. Must be said that nothing beats it for stop-start traffic for an hour. Mercs auto brake thingy system is incredible.

I'm a Manual man, but have learnt to respect the dark side!

When I was learning on the old beater, I was driving it for about an hour or two straight. Afterward, when I got back into my Lumina, I had a few problems involving the parking brake, as it's located approximately where the clutch pedal is located...

Is the Golden Clutch any more durable than a standard clutch? If so, I might need to get one...
