Extremely off-topic, and apologies if you are already aware of this, but I've just seen this on Ananova:

Oscar-winning characters Wallace and Gromit are being revived after a six-year absence - on the internet.

Wallace and Gromit are back with a series of short films

The series of 10 new shorts, entitled Cracking Contraptions, are the first original Wallace and Gromit productions since A Close Shave, in 1995.

Fans of the characters can download the short film from their BBC News Online site.

The remaining shorts will be broadcast on BBC 1 shortly and will be subsequently shown on other BBC channels.

Animator Nick Park said: "Wallace and Gromit are like family to me.

"I couldn't be prouder of Cracking Contraptions, which provides new insights into the relationship of my characters.

"And considering their love of advanced technology, BBC News Online is the perfect place for this premiere."

So far the duo have starred in three half-hour adventures for the BBC - A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, and A Close Shave. The latter two films won
Oscars.

BBC One controller Lorraine Heggessey said: "This is great news for Wallace and Gromit fans everywhere,

"The BBC has been the home of this loveable duo since they were created."

Nice one Jon, apparrently they're all 'practice runs' for the animators who will soon be making a new film.

Sorted now. Bit of checking done. Aardman (Wallace and Gromit) are the same animation company that does/did Angry Kid, an internet available only animation that is quite good.

Soccamatic appears to be a trailer for a set of ten shorts available in November (Cracking Christmas pressies Gromit!) which you can order in advance.

They need practice?!?!

I thought Chicken Run was excellent, both story and Animation, what the hell do they need practice for?!

Aren't Aardman the lot who also did the Creature Comforts thing that was on TV many moons ago! The Turtle with the sweat bands on and the camp tiger?

who cares? .. free stuff that's worth having ..

Anyway - maybe they just bought all new kit or changed software and needed some test runs to ensure their 'House Style' was just so - and the results were obviously good enough to release as promo stuff. Or Scruff could tell me I'm talking shite. I dunno...
