Looking for some opinions or suggestions as to what car to go for next. Should have about 10 - 12K available but I am not sure which way to jump. The options are at present:

1. Integrale Evo 1 - Always, always wanted one, can live with LHD and values certainly hold up, but using at an everyday car around town during the week I am not sure about...

2. E30 M3 - Again always loved them since I had one as a Scalextric car! Again LHD no probs but looking a tad dated IMHO...

3. Imprezza turbo - Seem to be around at that price, good car but... Loads about and one of my mates has got one!

4. GTV V6... Alfa = fantastic!, got a 145 cloverleaf at the moment but would be way better if it was RWD!

5. Go to Renault and buy a brand new Clio 172 cup. Sound like fun but never bought a new car in my life!

6. Just keep my 145 and spend the money on something else.....!!!!?

Anyone else want to throw anything in? All suggestions welcomed!

Ok ok, having gone through this dilemma many many times I feel qualified to answer this.

I have owned many of your potential cars; my 2000/W alfa romeo GTV 3.0 was an awesome machine. Really motored, although the servicing and fuel bills can get pricey. I recently sold mine after racking up fuel bills of £90 a week.

Drive an integra type R; these are awesome machines. Although a little noisy these things really fly and is the best handling car I have *ever* owned. They are reasonable on petrol when your not thrashing the arse out of the vtec, and reasonable parts and servicing.

I recently drove the civic type R; don't confuse the two. Althouth the civic does handle well it has an i-vtec engine which really didn't do it for me. The M3, well there nice cars and I have expierence with these also, solid as a rock. But like the alfa juicy and many of the 10-15k cars will be tatty and miley. I think you need to spend nearer 15-19k for a really nice late model.

As for the clio, erm. Well drive one, there is the bonus that it's new. But in all honesty once you have driven some of the machines you have mentioned you'll probably decide against it.

The subaru is a nice car also, a friend of mine just picked up a lovely 10,000 mile european imported x-plate uk spec car for 13k. But I have no first hand expierence there.

If you do decide on an integra, I know where there is a stunning example for decent money, email me if you need any info.
