Hi all,
One of my sons is well into this "new" motorsport from the land of the rising sun, and he has one of the RWD Corolla's like you see in the video's etc. Here is a picture of him at a practice session held a few months back:

He has a number of friends who have pioneered it over here. They are all rear wheel drive nutters. Anyway they have secured an airfield for the sport. It is in the West Midlands (north) and we are having our first runs tomorrow!!
We aim to keep it very affordable - at this time it will be £20 for a half day. We don't want idiots turning up - just good drivers who respect theirs and others cars. If you are interested contact me through my "E-Mail" on this site. Sorry about the short notice but it has only just occured to me that some of you guys may be up for it. The numbers are limited so please reply ASAP. I will give plenty of warning re our next meet.
Cheers
SPS

Never tried this before, but sounds like it could be fun. Definitely need something to stave off motorsport withdrawal over the winter, track days and so on are just too dodgy in cold/wet weather. Normally I'd be concerned about wear and tear on the car, but with cold tyres on a wet track I can't see it doing much damage, as long as there's plenty of run off. I'd definitely be interested in hearing about future events.

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

(actually I get the feeling its the same event?)

Also, there will be a feature on Inside Out about Jap supercars and drifting at 7.30pm, BBC1 on 28th Oct.

Hi Shadowninja - It's not the same event but my son is part of the Option and Dori groups.
It is a session that he has organised for himself and some like minded souls. To answer the other questions raised - there is indeed plenty of grass I'm covering up the nose and rear arches on my Chimaera and changing the rear wheels/tyres.
I will let you have more warning for the next event.
I think we will limit it to no more than 15 cars max as we want to ensure safety and quality time.
Thanks for the interest.
Cheers

Well we have had our first meet and it was really good fun.
I was worried about my SO3's so I took it easy at first (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).
We did about an hour of drifting then onto some slalom with a 360% at the end and back again. I clipped a cone at full chat - all over the place but managed to keep the front end in front. Later we did a series of drags down the airfield with a Mazda 323 GT holding a very fast 300bhp 200sx. We then did a hairpin session just as it started to rain - started hooning around fantastic off's by most of us - brill. And to end the day we did some figure of eight runs. All had a great time and everyone stuck to our rules - have fun but be safe.
Excellent stuff.
If you are interested please contact me as we are looking to run one next month. The cost is only £20 for half a day , we are not going to have more than ten cars taking part at any one event. If you just want to come along to watch and get a feel for it that can be arranged for a small fee of say £5!
