After a discussion with Mr Zee, Flasher, Scruff and Mel yesterday, it was decided that when we went home we'd all play No74 in our music collections

Quite proud of mine: Blind Faith (Baker/Winwood/Clapton/et al)

So what were yours, or did you forget

errmm.. yes.. forgot..

still, I'll look tonight (unless by some freak of chance Mrs CarZee is reading and would like to tell me what the 74th CD on the shelves is, counting from top left )..

Blind Faith eh? quite in keeping with adjacent discussions

Why 74th chaps ?

I'll have a look tonight - reckon it probably starts with H or J (so probably Herbie Hancock, Cypress Hill, or possibly JMJ)

Actually, it might already be in the car - bought Jakartta on Saturday - fantastic CD. Apart from dodgy cut of So Lonely on it.

Assuming that I count any double albums as 1 and ignore the fact that there is a massive gap on the top shelf where you haven't put your CD's away properly then the 74th CD is ....... :drumroll:

elbow - asleep in the back

Picking randon numbers seems like a good way to listen to some of your more obscure stuff (no74 "B" so you can imagine the depths my collection goes down to)

So pick a number if you want....

your turn..

if the number exceeds my number of CDs, then I move to my vinyl.. that should give me a total of about 550 (maybe more..) if I get to the end I'll rollback to the start and carry on counting..

Please bear in mind that If you elect 779 for example, then we'll be taking it in shifts throughout the night counting through to that number..

So, how about modifying it by saying "12th from start of S" or something..

Luckily, I'm not obsessionally organised, so nothing is in alphabetical/chronological order or anything.

I think I'll have to improvise, and do something like

"12th pile of CDs from the left on the desk, 6 down".

Oh look, Deep Purple

Hey, Blind faith. Excellent choice. I love "Do what you like" when in the car with somebody who likes modern music. They always go

"What the ****! I don't get it"

Great fun!

Hey, the PH jukebox! love it. Ok here goes, we're doing reverse 74 today, yeah?

in vinyl LPs, that's Piledriver - Status Quo
vinyl singles collection1 it's Ruby Tuesday - Melanie
vinyl singles collection2: It's My Party - Lesley Gore
CDs "reverse random access counting" (ie counts the piles which are out first, then back to the mix drawers, then back to the aphabetical drawers if necessary) Longpigs - The Sun Is Often Out.

[edited to consider removing explanation of reverse random access counting and decide what the hell, let 'em suffer ]

ps Blind Faith - respect.
