you know those 6-door limo's...

[1] i was wondering if theyre just a mod of a base-sedan by re-positioning its 4 doors into 6; or are they an extension as added post-rear axel; or a cut-addin-weld job?
[2] anyway, so what then is the usual average length?
[3] also, are hearse's made on top of a stretch-limo chassis, or are they just a remodeling of an estate with flat rear so a coffin can be slid in?

for the record - i enquired at the ford an GM websites an all they give are the base model lengths + the LWB extension amount - an thats only about a foot extra! [huh, thats hardly worth the trouble extending]

ps- an whats all this new sh1t below i was greeted with since coming back to post anew...

You need to look up coachbuilders or try "stretch limo manufacturer" in your google search. Here's one:

Surely the length of any stretch limo is twice the distance from the middle to the end?

The way they make stretch limos is to cut a standard car in two, pull the ends apart, put the 'stretch' section in the middle and weld all the bits together.

The 'stretch' sections are specially made to suit the particular base car (Lincoln, Cadillac, Hummer ) and come in a range of standard lengths. In fact stretch limos are usually referred to by the length of stretch (60", 120" etc).

Hearses are different but in many cases also made by modifying a standard car.

i recently found out that the longest a hearse need be is 6.2m.

+ that there are 4 companies in the UK that make them, one of which is run by the jankel family whose father founded panther cars in 1972.

Hearses are great. You can strip out all the coffin platform stuff and blank out the rear windows, and you get a comfortable van that's actually faster than an Astramax.

incidently, when i was last in soho-london i saw a 'pink' stretch-limo - so could that be grahame nortons or julian clarys?
altho usually, whenever i'm in central london i always at least see one 6-door limo - [tho in white].

ps- i just saw demi moores 'striptease' film today - an no she doesnt 'bare-all' - as like what the marketing turds who advertised she did
just going topless is not bareing all !

The film was called "Harold and Maude". It's still one of the funniest films I have ever seen - almost as good as "Cane Toads" which was to be a documentary on a pestiferous toad (as in Toad hall) imported into Queensland. Fortunately, the straight doco became an hilarious comedy doco. For a quick introduction into the Queensland mind set then "Cane Toads" is the best.

And, yeah, I always wanted an E-Type hearse - had the car for a while but didnt have the money for the conversion. One of lifes major regrets.

Theres a limo place just down the road from me which has all sorts of limos for hire, mostly novelty ones it seems, one of them is a pink one, might be that one.
