According to a recent poll of 1,005 people for insurer First Alternative, drivers of Aston Martins were seen as sexiest of all, while Reliant Robin owners fell to the bottom of the pack. Ferrari drivers came second and BMW Z4 third. Low on the list came Ford Escort drivers along with those in Austin Allegros (how many of those are there still on the road?) and Skodas.

Colour's important too, with black topping the poll and men in particular favouring red.

That sexiness is an important attribute when buying a car in no doubt for one-third of those between 18 and 24 years of age. Most -- 65 per cent -- thought hard-tops were sexier than soft-tops; maybe it's because you can't see any grey hair in a coupé...
