Brits arrested in race across Germany ? Radio report

I heard this on BBC radio 5 this morning. They said that 10 Brits had been arrested in the vicinity of the Germany / Austrian border. They quoted the German authorities as saying that they were racing on the public roads

Anyone heard any more ?

I notice that police only investigates in dangerous driving/hazardous overtaking, driving under the influence of drugs and forged number plates, but not in speeding.

I wonder why that australian website then has the headline Street racers clocked at 272km/h when this is the least illegal, if not entirely legal part of the story . The German source from the thread in the 'hoon forum features an illegal street race in the headline.

Because its sensationalist and makes it appear as if its Australians who have been doing that speed(which would be a record for speeding in Australia, the fast someone has been was 250km/h or so i think on, a motorbike). It gets people reading the article which is its goal, and of course its a news corporation owned website which says it all really...

Sorry Tonker but there are people who go on some of the more high profile "rallys" where they regard the hard shoulder as nothing more than an overtaking lane. Agree about the drugs point though, hell even having a coffee for breakfast could be covered uner the drugs headline!

No I'm not telling you that. In fact if they were on the autobahn I think they were (the A7), I would have been doing 300kmh+ where clear from other traffic.
