115 Km/h ON EXPRESSWAY:
The automobile CLUB OF THE WEST DENONCE A NEW MEASURE REPRESSIVE AND INADAPTEE
Under the pretence of the increase of the price of the fuels, the government recommends reducing the speed on expressway of 130 to 115 km/h to save the energy and come back to a market price acceptable.
The automobile Club of the west denounces and opposes itself to this bad idea for adapted no, for the following reasons:
- The traffic on expressway represents only 21% national total traffic. Why not to propose a similar measure on the body of the road network, while lowering proportionally the speed limitation on the national, regional roads and in the towns?
- THE OBJECT of the network autoroutier is to allow a bigger fluidity of the traffic and to assure a security maximum (as a reminder, distribution of the accidents by types of networks: expressways 6%, national roads: 13%, regional roads: 30%, other roads: 51%).
If authorized speed compares itself in a manner strong of the secondary network, that can have for effect to bring our fellow-countrymen to privilege the latter, and to abandon a become service well too dear for this that it brings.
Besides the government is it ready to lower at the same time the price of the péages? This is not very serious in terms of road security.
- The French are certainly sufficiently responsible to adapt their consumption to purchase their power. Constrain to a such measures would have on the other hand certainly repercussions on the economical development of our country as well as on the morale of the households.
Why not to go until to forbid all simply to roll?
In conclusion, and if we can consider that such a préconisation in terms of counsel certainly can sensitize the French, we oppose ourselves fermement to a strict imposition of the reduction of the speed on expressway, that leaves rather to think that Mister Perben leaves to lull itself by the nagging refrain of the lobby anti-speed.
Is this there the occasion to do to pass, under a false pretext, a repressive new measure that will be in any case very poorly understood and accepted no?
If such a reflection had to be followed, the automobile club of the west hears all placement in œuvre to mobilize the motorists on this theme while starting with to call for a general mobilization and while boycotting during 2 days the body of the French expressways.
