legal - insurance question
Discussion
My brother in law is at our house at the moment, just injured his leg and can't drive, but his car is parked outside (free parking today but he'll get clamped tomorrow) he is the only person insured to drive it. However he has to get it home so if someone else drove it and got stopped by the police, would they get done for driving without insurance? Would the court be lenient?
Most Courts will disqualify and impose heavy fines for No Insurance.
In many cases, if you have your own FC policy it will often allow you to drive any other vehicle not belonging to you with the owners permission, but it will only be either Road traffic act or third party cover.
In my area, first offence convictions for no insurance are usually 6 - 12 month ban and up to about £1500 fine.
