"Gain" pop-ups; removal advice please

Some help from the IT bods please.

I downloaded some software for my palm pilot yesterday, and now my computer is being bobarded by pop-up ads froma a company called "Gain", also known as "Gator". It seems that the "free" software comes with a catch - crap irrelevant pop-ups.

Any thoughts on how to get rid of it? I have deleted what I think to be the cookies - will that do it permanently? It seems to have done so far. I can't work out where the real nasty bit is.

download 'ad-aware' from Lavasoft here -> www.lavasoft.de

install it and have it scan your machines memory and disks... it's free and it eradicates all this sort of crap...

Reccomend "POW" - more free software! but this closes all the pop-ups automatically, you can find it at.
