Michael 'Beef' Park Dies in Wales Rally GB

Terrible terrible news, deepest condolences for his family and poor old Markko, he must be feeling pretty awful!
Its a wonderful motorsport, but as we all know it can be so bloody dangerous. Sort of brings the danger nature of it home a bit doesn't it. Saying this its still extremely saddening when something like this happens because we don't really expect it anymore do we, what with the awesome safety the cars have nowadays.
I think of all the dangerous things on the roads, trees are the worst by far.
Gut wrenching isn't it!!

Not long got back from the stage, not surprised to see a post here.
Must say the spectators were all understandably subdued, very quiet orderly queues back to the main roads.
I know nothing of Michael personally but of course you hear his name frequently and I feel that motorsport has been dealt a blow today, and of course my thoughts are with his family who must be really suffering at at this time.
A tragic loss.

On a related note, is the WRC coverage from the Millenium Stadium live? All seems a bit insensitive and not been mentioned yet.
According to the wrc site the Cardiff event would still be run, but there will be no after event celebrations.
It also appears that Loeb has turned down the championship as he did not want to win it in these circumstances (deliberately got himself a 2 minute time penalty).
Just finished watching the ITV coverage and would like to say well done to ITV for putting out a sensitive program. It covered the risk and explained how the drivers and co-drivers drive because they love their sport.
I also believe that the drivers with their 1 minutes silence at the Stadium was a credit to the sport - something that we should be proud of.
I'm very sad, and my thoughts go out to Micheal Parks wife and family.

Shed a tear tonight watching the coverage.
Reminds you that the sport & cars @ spped can be dangerous, even to the best.
Thought the the ITV coverage and sport itself carried itself with dignity during today's tragic accident.
God's blessing and all our thoughts for his wife, children and family

Very sad news. Again, hats off to ITV for the coverage. Well said and brought a tear to my eye too. Condolonces to friends, family and colleauges......
Also have to say that Peugeots stance, followed by Loebs was admirable - it is this type of sportsmanship which is sadly lost in so many other forms of sport (not just motorsport).
And shame on the FIA for being particularly heartless and shallow......
