Probably 'cos a large % of Sky customers are spending their dole / child allowance / etc etc on their subscrptions.

No offence intended to PH-ers with Sky, but the advertisers usually do a lot of research into their target audience...

What do you call that small box-type thing attached to a satellite dish?

A council flat.

What makes me laugh is the adverts for loans. You get some halfwit at the end proclaiming "We even had enough money left over for a car/holiday/another child"

Perhaps you borrowed too much then you numskull?!

Its all marketing, and unfortunately aimed at the masses. The vast majority of Sky subscribers are what marketers class as 'Socio-economic groups D & E' (a great term for scum really) so thats why you get bad credit and spurious wealth creation scheme adverts.

Matt.

Good 'un Basil.

It's not just sky though. On good old Anglia (and now, from Norwich, its the Quiz of the Week ... that won't mean a fcuking thing to anyone under 30 BTW) we get 'em all morning – and especailly before, during and after 'Trisha'.

I wonder why? 'Gives another meaning to the song, "Send in the clowns...'

"Consolidate your debts into one easy monthly repayment" - yeah, but let me guess... it's lower as the term is longer and will cost you more and more and more and...

Worked for a store chain as a part time job when I was younger. Every Christmas, the same people would come in and buy stuff on credit (33.3% APR!!! ). When they took out the agreement, not only were they paying for LAST Christmas, but the one before that as well...

I think its worse when Visa send you 4 or 5 cheques with a letter saying you are already approved for a £15000 loan etc. Cheques ready to use, all you have to do is sign on the dotted line.

Another reason these ads are abound is the low cost of advertising, especially during the day and on channels such as Challenege TV etc...according to the people I buy media through you can get 30 seconds of telly from as little as £1500!

Of course you have to make the ad, hence those low cost productions such as "quiz show" or "fat bloke asking if you're so daft as to fall off your chair"....
