4) Mercedes 190E drivers who acually believe their car is fast. Sorry but your car is possibly the slowest car on the road. You forget that Mercedes weigh tonnes more than a Nissan Sunny. You can add all the stupid plastic spoilers and AMG wheels in the world and it will never amounto anything but a slow Mercedes. My suggestion is Barabus but if you bought a 190E you probably dont have enough money for them to do anything anyway.

7) People with don cars like a Porsche 911 Turbo never actually use it properly, instead of thrashing it down the roads they idle around at 65mph on the motorway cruising and showing off their car. Now this for me is a waste if they wanted to cruise they should get a Mercedes S-Class.

Four wheel drive cars have a slight tendency to oversteer as well.

A crap driver will brake while in a corner, this will unbalance the car forcing the front end downwards and this will likely to result in oversteer, which can catch crap drivers off guard. Resulting in either a nice 360, or a 180 degree skid.

Some people see a car that they never have heard of or seen and assume it is slow and crap. Or just because it is an estate they assume it will be slow. Well sorry but NOPE the Audi RS-4 comes into mind and has 400BHP to bak it up launching it to 60 in 4.8 sec. Beating any RS Turbo jip in sight and will beat them all day with its Pirelli P-Zero tyres. My advice is this if you see the xenon headlights in the rear view mirror, move, it is either a police car or an Audi on a mission.

True, but what does he study? Just because he is at University, it doesn't mean he does any work and is going to pass anything. Maybe he is a Performing Arts student or he does Media studies or philosophy rather than something with REAL world value.

GTiR's are bloody quick! They're ugly as sin but have 280bhp as standard, and being a turbo car there's penty more power available if you have the money. Not my cup of tea, but certainly not slow.
A really highly tuned one beat a Dodge Viper over a 1/4 or 1/2 mile strip on Top Gear a while back . . .

They're about 225bhp at the most man..... they're awful AWFUL cars to drive.... rate amongst the worst cars ive ever driven.... my friends got one with somewhere around 350bhp @23psi boost it's quick, granted but its just like driving a grannies car, only everything happens in fast-forward.... the most incompetent chassis I've ever been in

Granted, the brakes (breaks) are crap, and they have a bias towards the front of the car, but they are very competant cars and until you have actually owned one I dont think you can comment.
Being a passenger in one is very different from driving one long term, all cars have there quirks and if they are set up right they are awsome cars.
If your mate has 350hp he must have uprated the brakes and suspension, otherwise he is asking for trouble.
I regulary do track days and sometimes a GTIR turns up, if they are midly modded they usually beat the more modern machinery, or are equal. Not bad for a car that was designed in the late 80's and bang for buck cannot be beaten.

hehe yeh i know where I belong.... maybe its just after driving the TR7 they feel soggy as hell... maybe its just me, but .... yeah dont like em. This one has indeed had the suspension upgraded, no brakes though, apart from some rather expensive abraisives.... the owner bought it with all the work done to it so not sure on the specifics.... the car just didnt feel right at all. I know they're highly fragile as well... REALLY nasty oil-surge peoblems in them and have a nasty tendency to melt pistons if you don't change the internals befoe you before you do anything more than filter/exhaust modifications. Even then it just moves problems further down the drivetrain to the gearbox which is the next weakest link.
I've driven several GTiRs (from stock to the modified ones I've mentioned) and currently have 3 friends who own them..... and it's no co-incidence that they're all broke as hell..... as are their cars most of the time (twice have I had a GTiR following the TR7 on the end of a rope)..... add my experiences (and my friends experiences) with them to the fact that they're common as hell over here and they look like grandma's car with a cheesegrater on the bonnet and IMHO you have one of the worlds most unappealing cars...... even though I'm doubting it's a very competent hot-hatch..... in a straight line anyway. But Pigme I'd have what you're driving over a GTiR anyday.... yours is a true hot hatch, through and through.
Edited to add: Just received an e-mail from one of my "cheesegrater" friends in aucks..... was hammering his car round the bays up north and his windscreen cracked through chassis flexure...... methinks the pulsar should have just stuck with its granny image.
Edited to further add: For bang-for-buck... you can't beat a VR4 Mitsi Galant... down the 1/4 mile can run 12-second passes for less than you'd pay for a 6-year old ex-repmobile at auction...... despite that they're terrible cars too

Well my car is 4WD and never understeers, due to rear wheel bias 4WD and the correct camber/toe on the suspension. However I would think he's probably not been driving an integrale with group N suspension

More likely to be the GTi-R which everyone is talking about. As I owned one for a year, I can promise you they never oversteer. I think you are being a little harsh on the old GTi-R Esprit. They are very quick cars and not half as fragile as you think. Unless they have been tuned by a complete and utter numpty. My car had air filter/exhaust mods and a boost hike. It ran at about 280-290bhp and never broke. As for the handling, it is good (providing you can drive properly) but you need to get used to it's tendency to understeer, it is still damn quick out of corners. The brakes are shite admittedly but that can be sorted. Maybe you are just a little miffed that your mates keep pulling away from your little brit two seater in their shopping trolleys

Yes I'll admit theyre probably not as bad as all that.... especially given NZ is full of jap imports and they are cheap which means most of them have been thrashed to death before they even arrive on shore..... they're quick, no mistake, but everything else is VERY underwhelming.... handle okay, but poor compared to say a comparative RS Escort or 'grale (about the only other 2L Turbo 4WD hatchbacks I can think of.... Sure.... they're much quicker than my lil TR but with about 1/3 the bhp I'm not gonna expect that I am..... having said that I've not found a GTiR yet that can get away from me on a twisty road (although as soon as they have a sniff of a straight I'm breathing nothing but their their soon-to-be-blown turbo smoke)
I will give them one thing though.... they're better than Mazda Familia GTRs though.

I fully agree with ya GTIR and they're not inherently BAD cars.... just not the most entertaining drive I've ever had. And I get the piss taken out of me wherever I go in my TR7 (from guys my age anyway) and considering I drive a TR7 I'm in no place to comment on .... errr odd car styling am I?
I respect GTIRs for what they are but as the saying goes "No matter how fast you push a shopping trolley, it's still a shopping trolley"
Edited to say: Over here it's the other way round.... 5 Wedges in a city of 400,000 and about 200+GTiRs...... although theres one REALLY nice one.... he's taken off the dinner-tray and the cheesegrater and it now looks like granny's shopping cart.... only its probably the quickest GTiR in town

Well said that man - whoever he was...
I think he must be jealous of porsche owners who don't try and race them, judging by his comments.
If you own a Porsche you know how fast your car will go so you don't feel you have anything to prove, it's really only people like boy on said site with 'normally' (as they aren't always) underpowered cars who think they can beat everyone.
