Those chat rooms are for kids who can't spell properly anyway (or text shorthand crap).
Doesn't give enough of an opportunity to structure and edit your questions.

Agreed - I noticed Ted lurking in there - disappeared after a while.

That said it all to me...

It's a real time communications tool. Whilst I hate (or h8?) that texting crap, it's just a short way of typing quickly.

The pop up crap is because it's a free java applet from parachat. That also explains why it's incredibly slow to load. I could write something which doesn't have any advertising if the chat is used more...

I've used chatrooms as a means of communications for 12 years now, and much prefer them to messenger programs that mean a new window everytime you want to speak to a different person, or having to manually instigate a multi-person chat session. If I want to chat to numerous people I just log in to one chatroom system. Easy.

You'll get used to it :P

Personally I don't mind typing in Chat Rooms, you get used to typing fast.

I didn't actually find it slow to load at all, and only got 1 popup.

I got a TCP connection error - I assume it's the office firewall getting in the way or something. Probably for the best, as I've nothing terribly interesting to say, and work to be cracking on with. Ah well...
