you could just about see the 'stigs' face through his helmet tonight, i wonder if the name stig is an anagram or has something to do with his name?

Yes, Hill is always hanging around isn't he.

Does anyone else have bother with a paddle shift car? I'm thinking about 3 point turns and parking manouvers etc, not if it's 'pure' driving or not.

Enjoyed the Vanquish & 575 piece. Just love the sound of the Vanquish, and am a fan of its styling. However, seeing it alongside the 575, it didn't look so good, and though the colour was hardly flattering, my choice'd be the 575 too. I'd also agree about the current evolution of semi-automatic gearboxes which IMO really are bloody awful.

Interesting they seems to think the Vanquish will loose 50k in six months. Maybe as a trade in, but I doubt if that saving will be passed on to the man in the street via the dealers. If it is, then 120k seems better value though! Mind you I've noticed a 550M for sale at 69k through www.sparkscars.com - looks like mental value.

Steve Coogan has raced before. I think he'd probably be the quickest of the lot so far, would have beaten JK if it was dry. He was only 1 sec off the Stigs wet time from last week and his run was a lot wetter too.

Reckon the stuff on depreciation was largely rubbish. They'll both depreciate to £120k or thereabouts (to the man on the street) by summer next year. And I've seen more 575Ms for sale than I have Vanquishes.

You're right about 550 values Roadrunner, though that one seems a bit too cheap. While I was about to say they'll cost more to run than a 355, I'm not sure that's actually true; it's what everybody says, I justy haven't seen the evidence to back it up.

The 550M is one of those cars I filed away as unobtainable, due to it's mega value. It's amazing they are now the same price as a new carrara. Quite mad. Unfortunately the thorny issue of running costs rains on the parade. Stories of 10k services and 9k carbon bonnets will surley scare off mere mortals.

re the 'reasonably priced car' feature.. Clarkson & Stig should run again as they said they'd fitted a rollcage after the first week before Jay Kay drove the car.

What would that add to the weight of the car? 100kg? Worth a second or two I'd think...

If someone offers you a bonnet at that price

bite their hand off. That's cheap! It's also not something you would expect to replace unless something catastrophic happened (although, anything that leads you to replace it is catastrophic by definition I suppose)

Scary stuff! Makes running a 911 turbo or cerbera look like keeping a fiesta on the road.

I enjoyed tonights show but:

What the hell were they doing with Burns...what would you rather see, him standing doing fk all...or, him driving the reasonably priced car to see how well he could do.

Good to see a skyline in a show after all these years, but, "skyline" and "playstation," gee, those two words have never been used in the same sentence before

I did really like the Aston, 550 piece, Hill is getting a lot of air-time recently hasnt he?

Maybe a silly idea but...

If someone who taped it can use the fast forward and the rewind buttons well enough.....the stig wasn't wearing gloves when drivin the BMW, Accord etc etc, so see if his hands from that are similar to that of Damons in he 575/Vanquish bit.

I reckon it's hill as the IOW music was similar to the 'style' of which the stig listens to 'in car'.

That's being kind. You should hear what the Skyline Fraternity had to say about that bit of 'informed' journalism...

Ferrari vs Vanquish was rather nice, though.

And next week? Ultimate cars money can buy? Might they be talking about a certain McLaren F1?

MDG.

hmm... would add some weight, but then of the Focus, a full FIA rollcage can increase the structural rigidity by nearly 400%... so it may not be a huge penalty.

Vanquish / 550 piece was OK... loss of £50k on a Vanquish? Not convinced on that one. If that's the case, why are the order books overflowing...?

What has F1 ever given us was a shambles... how about the disc brake, alloy wheels, variable valve timing, ABS, carbon and ceramic brakes, paddle shift, 4WD, turbos.... the list goes on. Seemed like more artistic licence than journolism...
