hi all

well crunch day has come, my cerby may have to go.
the problem is no the running of it,its the practicality, just relocated to the lakes and scared myself stupid earlier today, bydoing 180spin off roundabout, with business colleges in passenger and backseats, they were not impressed.

also to add to the argument new baby on the way (can 2 child seats fit in the back?

my wifes car is a clio diesel(75mpgaverage).what car would give me that petrolhead buzz.have been thinking of M5 or AMG merc...around 30k to spend.

i have thought of a tuscan and a rangerover combowhat do you think

cheers

Steve

The new M3, supposedly one of the best driver's cars in the world, could be had for that sort of money. Pretty practical, too. Mind you, the RR + TVR idea would be very appealing in the Lakes. It does rain a lot (my mate lives near Barrow in Furness), but running over the top of the hills on a sunny day - mmmm, open top TVR!!!!

If I was you i would go for a Chimp for under 20 grand and with what is left over trade the Clio in for a people carier for you and your misses and of course the kids.
That is what I would do in your shoose, Have a car that can carry kit and kids and also have a car for your self but its your choice.
I hope this is some help

I can vouch for the Chimaera and Discovery combo, although you reallly need to make sure the discovery is a V8 as well...

you can easily get a good chim and a disco for a lot less than 30 k

Overfinch Range Rover and a Griff.

Then you can have your petrolheadedness with utter comfort or the roof down.

Matt.

I would say keep the Cerb' and buy a light right foot!

TVR have better road holding capabilities that most cars. A spin simply means you were applying too much power.
I know my Chimeara is a bus compared to a Cerb but I am always surprised how good it is in the wet...

I went for Overfinch and Chim

Only 'cause they came up at the right price, Landcruiser Amazon (diesel) and Tuscan for that money

I would suggest you have a shot in both a C43 and an E55 Merc. I think you may be pleasantly surprised at how good they are. I have also recently driven Audi S4 and S6 estates - deceptively quick and very innocuous. With fairly hefty initial depreciation they are all becoming very good value at 2 to 3 years old. I would not bother with a lot of money on a Range Rover in addition. I used to deal in secondhand RR's and most of them were sheds when new and simply got worse. More recently I have run a couple of early 90's 3.9 Vogue SE's - leather, aircon, elec seats, abyssmal fuel consumption, but a good one for 3-4k is Ok for runs to the tip, snowy days etc and does not feel much worse than a 10-15k example. Hope you find something that does it for you.

If you want a driving experience reasonably close to a TVR with 4 seats try an HSV ( after 4 TVRs and a similar dilemma I did and bought one). V8 5.7 340-500BHP, lovely noise, great handling, cheapish running costs. A couple of down-sides are its dash is a bit boring and the gearbox is a bit crude but well worth trying. There's one for sale in the adverts section or try Linden Special Vehicles at www.britishlinden.com

Edited to say the one for sale isn't mine!

Is this what I would call the new shape 944? If so it's about the same inside as a Cerbera so no difference there, except not as fast? Keep the Cerbera and be carfull out there. Rich...
