When did you first do the 'ton'?

In 1985 just after passing my test when I was 17 in my mother's Renault Fuego GTS on the M4 between Bridgend and Port Talbot. 
Got to 120mph downhill and realised that I'd had my foot down so hard I'd stretched the accelerator recoil spring! Had to drive home by putting my foot under the accelerator to bring it back up each time I accelerated!
Bought a new spring for £1.73 and fitted it myself. Still the most technical thing I've ever done to a car!

Just nudged the ton about a week after passing my test in Sep 93. The car = my mothers yellow Metro.
Took a while to get there and was scary as
when it (eventually) got there.
If I recall correctly it was between the x and y junctions on the M1 (just coming back from a mad one in Northampton).
Brings a smile to my face thinking about it now!!

To improve aerodynamics, we wound the windows up and headed for a big hill on the A1(M)
My little 1.1 Escort slowly shaked its way round the speedo till....much whooping and a hollerin, we hit 100mph.
Had to slow straight back down again for fear of something falling off the car and besides, we'd reached the bottom of the hill.

I apparently did just over a ton on a big long hill the other week in my sooped up 1985 mini ritz! mate in clio 1.8 16v was following me and said i was doing about 105!!! i only have 90 on clock! was wellllll past it needle was pointing downwards! probs not good for car! 4 gears! haha
I had to wait till i was about 19, previous two cars just wouldnt make it...then i got my hands on a Punto Sporting. I had been for a weekend away with my bird at the time and she dozed off on the back seat. My fun started when a Corsa SRi challenged me, i think i got it between 110-115 before my bird woke and shouted at me

Podie you are too modest most of the time - I had no idea until the other day the huge amount of exotica you have driven during the course of your work!
I entered a competition and won a spin in a Group C car as a passenger. All I remember is being stunned at how quick it stopped - I had bruises on my shoulders from the harnesses!
I was also lucky enough to be thrown around by Gwyndaff Evans in an Escort Kit-Car several years back. Even though it wasn't a Group A machine, I was stunned at how quick the damn thing was, and just how quick Mr Evans was - he's also a top bloke as well! (I've got an autographed instructions on how to build a rally Escort Cossie!).
Over time my work has seen me drive some amazing exotica - not always at high speed I might add! Then again, when you have to drive a 3 wheel truck for the Korean market for 4 hours at top speed (30mph) it ain't all fun and games! (nor was riding pillion on a sports bike over Belgian Pave for a day!). Unfortunately a huge proportion of the work I've done is strictly confidential, and although I no longer work in the field I once did, I still repsect manufacturers confidentiality, hence cannot be anything other than modest.

my test is in 2 weeks
just after passing my test (again) in my mothers 2.0 Cavalier - going from driving a 998cc mini it felt like a spaceship. the M40 beckoned, and just after beaconsfield the deed was done... and one big, wide grin as a result!
i must say, i look back and shudder at how poor my observations and awareness of other road users were during those first few months... i like to think high speed cruising is executed a lot more smoothly now!
