HELP ........... Any P.C. Boffins in here ???
Discussion
My mouse cursor keeps stalling and then reapearing down at the 'Start' button. A popup box with a Toolbars option at the top and Properties option at the bottom appears now, when this first started a toolbar was popping up randomly on the screen.
Help! This is really starting to give me the hump. It started a couple of days ago and is getting more and more regular.

Sounds like it might be as simple as a sticky key on your keyboard. Shut the machine down and then press each key on the keybaord a few times and then restart.

How old is the mouse? and when did you last clean it?
They do get lots of crap in the wheels and things inside.

I've bashed all the keys and cleaned the mouse rollers! It's still pissing about.
The toolbar that kept appearing is called the 'Net/Luckyjump' toolbar. I've been into the mouse part of the control panel and can't seem to find anyway of disabling this! It would appear when the cursor stalls and then reappears by the start botton it is activating the 'toolbar' option diag box.

Try a "ONE OFF" "Control Alt Delete" and see what's running. If you see in the list "Net? or "Luckyjump" select and press the End Task button.
That's the first stage.
Let's know how you get on
Or try using a standard MS driver from Windows...
Or go to mouse manufacturer's web site and look for updated drivers...
Or buy a new mouse...
FWIW I try to NEVER load mouse drivers unless it is unavoidable. They seem to always go bad after a month or so. Even Logitech. The drivers programs are also invariably huge memory hogs...

go to www.lavasoftusa.com and download AdAware - run that, clean your system with it and you should be ok.

I can see that time was going slowly last night trying to sort Paul's mouse while trying not to think of your new baby today- may even come past to have a look. Paul I suggest go down to PC world and buy a cheap mouse with driver- mine recently died on me- worked one day and then not the next. After hours of trying to get it to work I gave in and bought a new one.
How is the car going with all this rain??

another one for you...
computer keeps hanging (everything just freezes) randomly.. I mean RANDOM anything from as soon as turned on, to working fine for 3 hours.... it's not software as it can happen before anything has appeared on the screen.
is this M/B or power-supply ?!??
tried swapping graphics card & memory.. no luck.
Thanks in advance
Piers

I would say check your BIOS for any type of auto configuration scheme (hard drive, CPU specs, etc) and turn off auto and enter the appropriate specs. Don't know your system, but I have found auto configure schemes in the BIOS more trouble than they are worth...

My computer at work had a similar problem to this a while ago, it would randomly restart. We tried swapping EVERYTHING, it ended up a new mobo fixed it. Sounds like a mobo problem in yours, PSU niggles usually cause reboots not freezes, but there is only 1 way to find out i spose...

sounds like something could be overheating, check that all your fans are spinning properly. the fan in my psu stoped working and made the whole pc get too hot and crash randomly. If its not a cooling problem then i have no idea..
As for the mouse problem i would suggest getting rid of the comet software. I bought a cheap mouse a week ago, everytime my mobile sends or receives a signal the cursor moves randomly all over the place.
Thanks for all your help folks. I've dumped the Comet software and resorted to a standard MS driver ........... Fingers crossed all is OK at the moment.
The car is 'interesting' to say the least in the wet. Thanks for asking.
