Greetings, knowledgable people.
My sister has asked for my advice on buying a used car.
The criteria she's given me is this: diesel, hatchback, 3-door, 51 reg, anything up to about £5k.
She plays hockey in goal and often has lots of stuff to lug about, so it should have a fair whack of boot space.
My thoughts are a Focus TDCi or a Golf TDi, but every man and his dog has got one of those.
Anyone with other suggestions?

Muchas gracias.

Is she fit, I'll give you a used VW Polo for her.

Xsara HDi? Good common rail engines, reasonable running costs and you will have a big choice at that kind of price. Have to agree with Tonker though that a Mondy would be the ideal 5k diseasel.

C5 HDI 110 - will easily get one for £5k though it may be too big.

Otherwise a Bora or a Leon TDI would get my vote.

Nice one lads, should have predicted there'd be a few 'optimistic' suggestions. Although I'm surprised no-one's recommended a TVR...
Couple of good ideas there, cheers. Anyone had experience of a Leon TDi or a diesel Xsara? Bora's not a bad plan either.
Legends, all of you.

I've got a Focus 1.6, its brilliant

The handlings damn good, so you can even teach her to drive it properly on a track day!

Or if she's fit she can have a few free lessons with the 4th place 2005 Caterham Academy man

Like that idea, would be a bit different to the norm.
