Time to set the video tonight Pubgoers.

Channel 5, from 8 to 9pm, a 1 hour program covering the different 007 motors including details of how they did various stunts etc.

A must for all Bond fans and all pistonheaders.

Ted, how about a daily 'cars on TV' bit, the amount of times I find out about top car action the next day after it was on C4 at 3.30am

You won't need to watch the programme to learn that the best looking Bond car ever was the original Aston Martin DBS (before they messed up a classic design with spoilers and blanked grille etc) used in On Her Majesty's Service

wasn't it ...er...Ok??

I mean, did they honestly thinkw ewould'nt notice the swap with the V8 Astons?? One, a late model Vantagve (with blanked off) grill). The next? The actual car used in the film. then back to the late model Vantage.

Still, great to see.

I think you will find that the car in Goldfinger was a DB5. And the DBS is much better looking

It was OK, but went and saw xXx last night, the New Wave James Bond and there was a Silver Tuscan in that and about 8 rari's, not to mention several skodas, but the car chase scenes in the new film look pretty tasty.

/Aston bore mode on/

because the Aston factory didnt have many cars available, the car used in the driving scene is the prototype DB5- actually a DB4 series 5 Vantage body (cowled headlights) with the Db5 engine (ie 3 SU carb's). DB5's have a small badge just behind the front wheels, and on the boot. A DB4 has no model badges at all, just the Aston wings on the front and back.

OHMSS is a DBS, and a DBS V8 makes a very brief appearence in "Diamonds are Forever"

In The Living Daylights the used two cars- one a V8 Vantage (without bodywork mods., original reg HLF 53T) and thes econd was a V8 Volante- this was Vistor Gauntlet's own car (he was the boss at AML at the time) and this car carries the reg number B549 WUU

/bore mode off

That was a cool car though - My fave Bond car that white Esprit - Was something pretty damn special to behold as a kid!

I liked it too, Mungo. But the movie that made me fall in love with the Esprit was For Your Eyes Only. I really loved the white one that they blew up five minutes into the movie... I knew I had to have an Esprit someday...

Interesting thing was, I was actually visiting in the UK (Grandparents and Uncle near Ayrshire, Scotland) when that movie came out - I took it as a sign!

My Dad had a white Esprit S3 round about the time that "The Spy Who Loved Me" came out, and kids used to come up to him in the street and say 'does your car go underwater mister?'
