Without being stupid but with an amount of enthusiastic driving how long does it take to traverse Snakes Pass?

If your starting point is Ladybower it takes 15 - 20 mins down to Glossop. Its very traffic dependent though so you cant really put a time on it. Great road though right on my doorstep.

From Sheffield (many years ago) back home to Glossop, it took me on average 35 Mins.

Don't know how, but my mum did it in 30 mins once!

I used to do Sheffield to Manchester centre in 45 mins in my Mk II Escort (and probably quicker on the way home ). Tailsliding all the way, of course.

Has anyone ever set a 'lap record'?

....will echo the comment about traffic dependence. It's very busy in high season so on most occasions expect a 30 mph pootle.

WORD OF WARNING -just above Ladybower (just outside the 50 mph limit towards Glossop end) there's a little concealed layby that often provides cover for plod

Tailsliding is optional, I've personally managed to get the car very unsettled in the wet whilst overtaking

Yep, definately traffic dependent... watch out for the sunday driver...

Also depends on how enthusiastic you are... car in front of me ended up in a ditch once! - so his average might have been a bit longer than normal...
