Well, not until you trade down to a "Seven" and move to somewhere obscure in Wales

Sorry to hear it. A bit crappy to happen so soon before Christmas too.

Don't see it as a reason to bash the government, though.

Bad luck mate, it is a year to the week I was made redundent. I took it easy for christmas lastyear enjoying the time off and looked for a job in the new year and had one for the beginning of Feb.

and I am not alone, most of my ex team did the same.

it's always before Christmas, I was made redundant this time last year from Nortel Networks in Harlow.....thought this would last more than 10 f**king months though. I thank Bush for this one, his vedetta against Saddam is crippling Industry

In my business, it happens in January, just before the bonuses come out.

Pretty crappy when it does, as peopele are expecting most of their year's pay in February, and instead get a P45.

Me too Apache, 3 months ago. I work in Marketing so was not surprised! I still have enough redundancy to last till February ish, but the market is very poor in the marketing world. Serves me right for talking bullsh*t for a living

Chin up mate, have a beer, and a relaxing christmas, bit of time off to mull it over, then start in ernest looking for a job in Jan??

Sorry to hear it apache - hope you get as good a deal as you did last time.
In IT it always seems to be just before Christmas for some reason.
Welcome to the club! Hopefully we won't have too many long term members...

How true .... I was told on Friday that my last day of work will be the 20th December, then I'll be joining the club too.

Merry Christmas

My recent and valiant efforts to secure gainful employment have all gone down the loo in a fantastic swirling fashion. I have finally managed to find a decent paying temp job starting on Monday that will see me through 'til Christmas. Then we hit the January blues...I can only hope 2003 is a better year...

f**k me! how many of us 'statistics' are there?, it is clear that things are not well in Industry...I personally feel that Bush and his 'agenda' with Iraq has caused a lot of this

Just survived the first round at my company. Here it's known as WFR (work force reduction). Second round will be announced before the end of December. They seem to be moving lots of the work out to India (it's an IT company).

Fingers crossed for the second round. Best of luck to everyone in the same situation.
