Does anyone rent a garage for their P&J? I'm looking for a new garage to shelter her form the blistering cold but dont really know how much is too much.

Anyone have any experience with privately rented garages? One in my area is going for £100p/month, im thinking thats a little dear. Am I expecting too much?

A friend of mine was renting one in Exeter for £50 pm but that was a couple of years ago

£60-something a month, but I may be a little closer the M25 than you. £100 seems high - but not that high!

£155 per quarter, south west London.

Check your local chartered surveyors and estate agents - they sometimes have garages for rent. Also, go and look at the garage blocks at the back of flats: usually any companies renting them out have adverts up.

i thought mine was expensive at £250 for the year

As a Landlord I charge between £15-£25 per week, and I am in West Sussex. £15 gets you a insulated garage with electric light. £20 will get you as before, but will include a battery charger as well. £25 will get you a fully managed and alarmed garage.

In the new year we will be supplying dry storge for cars at a knock down price, but you have to share.

Local Housing Association rent out council owned garages. I got one in 3 weeks and pay £6.50 per week, yes that's £26 per month. No light or heat but it is dry & walking distance from home.
Feeling a bit smug (that is until someone breaks in, I guess)

Hi,

I rent a garage off a North London Council at £10 a week and have found them very helpful in terms of putting new locks on etc. The only downside is that there can be a waiting list.

I would also be careful with some specialist rental agencies. Not wanting to name and shame but make sure you get a look inside the garage first. I luckily kept the old one on and was shocked to find the new garage full of broken glass, a beehive and worringly was at least a foot and half narrower in the middle (could get the car in but couldn't open the doors). Most garages are designed for regular cars, TVRs tend to be a bit wider.

A garage round my way costs £30 a month.
Insurance saving for a garage is £30 a year.

So I don't bother..

Looks like I'm winning so far - £4.24 per week from the local housing authority. As mentioned before though, no light, heat or water - so can't be used for much more than storage and basic maintenance.

Garages to rent in Bath range between £40/month and £100/month. I'm paying £85/month for one close to my flat. No power or water so it's just storage for the Caterham and trailer really.
