A while ago I saw an advert for skid pan training using high performance cars (one was a Cerby).

Anyone know of the contact details or something similar....?

TIA

Thanks - saw that one but I want to use their cars. I saw the ad (I think) in AutoCar. The picture was on a cream/beige background and a (red) cerby going sideways.

This is the kind of thing I want to get my IAM group doing again.

They will be looking at from the "Knowing how to control your car in an emergencey" stand point.

My view will more about extending the envelope.

I wouldn't start in Hi-Po cars though, especially a Cerbie, it could be a very short session.

My boss went on one a few weeks ago, a perk off AMG for buying a new AMG C36, but I saw an auction on the Children in Need site for a place on the same type course it was run at Millbrooke and was a full day which included a session on the road course and a session on the skid pan in AMG Merc's

He was quite impressed with it, I'd ask him for more details but he's in the Carrabian now, maybe he pays himself too much, time to ask for that 40% pay rise (oppps sorry wrong thread)

I am going on a red letter day skidpan session in Jan. Cost is 99 quid I think, and lasts for 2 hours or something.

You use their car in an electronic cradle type thing.

Will let you know how I get on, if you can wait until Jan!

My IAM group goes to the Goodwood skid-pan.

www.skidcontrol.co.uk

I went over there and the bloke (Colin Wells) did me a on-track and skid thing which was great. By the end I was playing about seeing if I could powerslide around the cones. Good fun. I should do it again, really.

He does it in beaten up old Sierras. Good laugh as all the sliding about starts at about 12 to 15 mph. It all happens in an amusing slow motion that means the consequences of error are....practically non-existant.

Castle Combe have a skid pan, not exactly high performance cars but it's cheap at £75.

I did the Don Palmer course earlier in the year and learned loads, but beware, he uses Bruntingthorpe which has quite an abrasive surface - driving sideways all day took a significant amount of life out of my tyres.

Spoken to Don Palmer and he said if I can get a few people together he could probably do a special rate.

You can either use your car or he has a prepared Capri.

If anyone is up for it can you let me know...?

Thanks

I'd love to do something organised by Don Palmer. Let me know the details of what you've got in mind!
