Has anyone bought one of those new cassette tape adaptors that allow MP3 players to be used in car stereos? Are they any good - is the quality impaired in any way?

I bought a cassette adaptor from Currys a while back, must make the effort to try it out with my RioVolt mp3 player (which is very good BTW, I use the random facility a lot)

I bought a jornada(sp) fm transmitter thingy off of ebay to play the mp3 player through the car radio works OK with the advantage you can use it to broadcast to other radios not just the car.

I'm getting an iPod for Xmas, and I'll be connecting a 3.5mm plug into the car stereo (and the kitchen stereo) so I can take ALL of my music with me wherever I go

Had a cassette adaptor that came with a Sony CD player a while ago.

Noisy. Very noisy (clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack...)

The transmitter types look a lot better.

Just bought one of these for operation with PC, make sure you check out hte system requirements XP, 128mb ram & that you have a fire wire socket, also has quite a few glitches on PC (apple would operate much better no doubt) good luk, Nik.

XP Pro, 1 gig of ram, firewire front and back, and already have Musicmatch as my main music management software. Should be a breeze

Tried my cassette adaptor in the car today, with my RioVolt MP3 player and it worked just fine, no extraneous noises. Had to boost the bass quite a bit, though. Bought if from Currys, £15 incl multi-voltage power adaptor. Very recommendable if you use a number of different cars, and if it all gets knicked then total loss is £105 (RioVolt cost £90)

An alternative to MP3 players (and having to remove it every time you park) is to get a minidisc player in the car. You can buy a connection kit which plugs straight into your usb port and minidisc and record any music format to it.

This is the crowd I got mine from on ebay they seem to advertise on there all the time ended up about £20
inc p&p

I first ordered this one but they were out of stock

www.merconnet.com/products.php?ProductID=80

these also looked quite good but I was going to get stung with P&P unless you or someone you know is going to the states.
