Hi to SpnRacing!

Hi there.
Like the Golf, got a Mk1 myself.
Vintage 79,originally 1100cc......now sports an 1803cc gti engine mated to a corrado G60 cablechange box.
Modified everything!
Oh and not forgetting the Turbo.....should be good for nearly 280 bhp, but pity that itd be disallowed on the track.
Never mind.
Laters.

Hi Iguana.
Its still got to have an intercooler, some small plumbing and the engine management sorted yet, but doing it myself saves a hell of a lot on the cost.
Its been in the garage for waaaaaay too long now, i just wanna hear it bellow in anger for the first time.
Oh and the resprays not finished...still, never mind, cant have it all can i?
Maybe itll be done in time for summer, i feel a trackday coming on!

Oops. I missed this post first time round.
Though Deltaf and I have disagreed on many subjects since...
What are you going to do with your Golf? Track days? What are you going to do with the suspension? Have you thought about a differential to help get the power down? What about bigger brakes?

Hi Spn.
Yeah i know we disagree on stuff, but hey, thats all par for the course.
On to the car.
Well the differential is a quaife torque biasing one, same as fitted to the new Rs Focus i believe.
Suspension is Jamex all round.
Brakes are 285 mm up front the biggest under a 15" wheel so im told, and the rears are converted to 239mm discs.
Cage is a fully welded in one .
Sparco evo seats and Sabelt 6 point harnesses.
The engine is 1803cc, arrow "h" section rods and quattro turbo pistons(ceramic coated) as are the valves.
Head is a home ported one (by me) with a G60 corrado steel head gasket and fast road G60 cam (didnt want the race or rally version),too radical.
Clutch is a mix and match version.....er no one made one, it uses a lightened G60 flywheel, with a Turbo diesel Passat thrust plate, and a golf turbo diesel friction plate.....cos i have the corrado cablechange box fitted now also,(nightmare).
Still have to source the management system, intercooler and pipework, but essentially its nearly done.
As for intended use....er i have to be honest, i never really thought about that when i started this thing, but having given it a little thought, i reckon itd be pretty useful for sprinting/ hillclimbs etc.
What would you reckon?

With all those mods it won't be eligible for many saloon car races (maybe Classic Thunder) but should make an awesome sprint/tarmac rally car. I've got a Quaiffe diff too, its hard work in the wet but worth it overall.
Mine has drums at the back and 239 disks at the front. Have to run 13" wheels - hmmpph.
