And that is, that all advertisers in whatever media, if they choose to quote a price then that price must include VAT!
If anyone sells to people from outside the EEC, or to mostly VAT registered businesses, then they can also quote VAT exclusive prices if they wish
I'm tired of hving to get the calculator out when I want to compare prices in motoring magazines.
Perhaps whilst waiting for Mr Blair to consider my request the owners of the media concerned could provide a level playing field for their advertisers by requiring all of them to quote VAT inclusive prices

Yes and lets make sure that menus in restaurants also include service charge. I like it in Germany where menu prices include the tax and service charge so what you see is what you pay.
I also get annoyed at Estate Agents and Car Dealers with ideas above their station who advertise on a 'price on application' basis.

I'm not convinced about this tipping idea. I only do it to not embarress my wife/friends/dining companions. i don't get a tip when I provide good service to my clients. but then I do make sure I charge a nice sum

I always read that as "don't bother calling" and go elsewhere.
Isn't this actually illegal? I don't delieve they can force you to pay a service charge even if it is quoted on the menu.

Same here. They know what they want for it so should advertise it.I always read that as "don't bother calling" and go elsewhere.

The sam with jobs adverts. If they don't include a salary range (just something like "competitive") I wouldn't apply.
On the PC buying front. Oh yeah. Not only do they never include VAT all of the sizes are mis-represented as well.
