cross channel ferry fares

I'm in an odd situation (again) I won't bore you all with the circumstances and reasons. But in mid December I have got to drive to germany for the weekend and drop off a car for somebody, myself and Mrs Mel will then fly home a few days later. Now I've asked for a "single " ferry crossing and got prices £130 + but I can get a "day shopper" in the run up to christmas for £13 if I go after 6 in the morning and come back same day. What I am considering is booking this and then just going bollox to coming back and off to Germany I go, then back via Easy Jet !!! Areas of concern are that the ferry company will have a credit card number which could they bill if I fail to return? and they may have vehicle reg which they could blacklist? is any of this likely and have any of you done it ?

Dont pay by cedit card, do you have to book in advance?

send them a cheque or pay ££ on the day.

After getting ripped by euro tunnel last Christmas 1,800FF for a one way Calais Dover on my return to Sweden i just booked a day shopper thing at about £40 and never heard any more about it , i have done this a couple of times Mel and i dont think is a problem

I reckon give them as little money as possible and see what happens, they seem nearly as bad as insurance companies

It's a bit dodgy its actually my brothers and I'm taking it out to him, problem is compounded by the fact he's coming home at christmas a couple of weeks later.

Then you could have a return ticket with him using the other passing? How long are they valid? A return ticket is IIRC only few percents more than a one way.

did actually look at that but the return was £200+ if over 5 days oh yes and he goes back after christmas so would want a return himself from Germany, either way we will have to try a "one way" scam at some stage.

Mel where is this deal? The best I can get is with seafrance for £15 but it means crossing before 6:00am which is an arse.

One thing to ask..do they actually check that you have the car you say you have? (If you see what I mean).

Just a thought but how about booking two tickets/crossings

one for the day you go out and one for the day that brother wants to come back

Aha I see, but they want you to go back on the ships next sailing, so you can only shop on board.

I think the £28 seafrance deal is looking to be the best for us.

What a friend of mine bookes a cheap day return from Dover one day spends a few days touring then books another cheap day return from France to come back. Ferry companies arent fussed as they already have yr money and class it as yr own fault if you miss yr return boat.
