2 new cameras to watch out for in Bedfordshire

To any of you who use the Leighton Buzzard bypass (runs from Dunstable towards Aylesbury), you will know it is one of those A roads which are so wide that everyone uses it as a 3 laner ie: lots of people overtaking.
Anyway, as of this morning there are now 2 forward facing cameras which are both situated directly behind a main junction road sign (and they are not painted yellow either!). Limit in the junction area is 50mph and you won't see these beauties until you are on top of them -
thought you might like to know.

Coming from Dunstable (leaving the A5), they are on the first junction you come to. I reckon they will catch a lot of people as this road sees many cars the 'wrong' side of 100mph and they only reduced it to 50mph on the junction about a month ago.
If you do drive past - have a good look at how sneaky they have been with the camera position - really, really hard to see!

Damn, that used to be a lovely little sunday morning route - out of LB at Hockliffe, down the A5, off onto the A505, nice longish blast all the way up to the Wing/Aylesbury junction, and back into town, not forgetting the railway bridge for full reverb effects..

Do you think it will actually make a lot of difference? I know the road had a history of accidents at those junctions, but I haven't heard of anything for the last couple of years anyway.

Can't see why they will make any difference - the fatal crashes that have occured on that road have not happened at the junctions - guess that when they wanted to hide the camera they needed a nice big road sign to hide them behind and the biggest signs are at the junctions!
Anyway, look out for them - still possible to enjoy parts of that road, just need to slow down at the cameras!

Know the bypass well,a good,wide piece of road,the cameras are at the Standbridge/Totternhoe turnoff.
A camera has been installed west of Luton on the A6 just before Streatley and on the Tring road close to the gliding club at Dunstable.
The Bedfordshire and Luton Casualty Reduction Partnership(BLCRP} have stated that the cameras are for reducing accidents and not for raising revenue.
Project Manager Hazel Robertson said that "Cameras are there for one reason only,to reduce accidents".
It was also announced that that the cameras are to try to reduce accidents by 40% by 2010.
Another14 are to go up at locations throughout Beds.

Cheers mate ,been down that road twice last week and never see them,cant remember seeing any signs either.
unless they wher the sneaky ones on the NSL sign all in one.

According to the LB on Sunday, there will be "mobile safety cameras" operating on the A5, the bypass and...

Damn there was another one, but I havent got the paper with me and I cant remember for the life of me..

theres also two new 'uns at the milton ernest end of the clapham bypass on the a6, but they don't work

neither of them are yellow, and they are not placed in an accident black spot as the road doesn't open until next march!!!

the council says this is quite acceptable as this is a place where they "feel" the "may" be a problem, bs

there were never any accidents on this stretch of road until they put in 1001 reflective poles that dazzled 3 drivers in a week to crashing, at least one was fatal, now they keep buggering around with the speed limit, the white lines and the radii of the bends, now they've put the bypass in the offramp looks bloody dangerous in my opinion!!!

also as they've slapped a blanket 40mph limit over bedfordshire (almost) it has scared all the people who can't drive into doing 25 everywhere, i almost killed myself the other day when i caught a car up doing 20mph in a 60 limit, i had to brake from 65 (ok, so i was speeding) to almost a standstill!!!
