After travelling up the M6 today between J32 and J33 northbound, the distance between those junctions is huge!! All Terrain heard it might be one of the longest stretches between junctions in the UK.
Just wondering if it's true or not.

Ah yes, Preston to Lancaster, my old home-stretch, definitely a big gap. I think it's longer than the longest section up though Shap.

Strangely I was discussing this very thing with a colleague at lunch today - exciting lives we lead eh?!

Hi Lo, those 2 junctions are 13 miles apart the same as the distance between 8 and 9 on the M20(maidstone-Ashford(kent) but the longest one I can think of is between 8 and 9 on the m11(Bishop Stortford to Duxford )at 15 miles.

the longest gap always seems to be just after the junction you were meant to tun off at!

The longest stretch between two junctions is the stretch between your penultimate junction and your home junction in the early hours of the morning after a very long journey when you're dog-tired and/or in desperate need of the toilet.

Junctions 5&6 on the M2 are pretty far apart (though not as far as maidstone and ashford on the M20) and its made worse by the stupid layout at junction 5. Twice ive ended up having to drive to faversham and back when I have forgotton

Between 8/9 and 10 on the M4 is a long way, especially as you can't (easily) do an about turn at J10.

Your right I was going to mention that one but I wasn't sure as I haven't got a map on me,and it's only westbound.

It's more southbound than northbound. J9 (Stumps Cross) only has an exit from the northbound carriageway. Coming south, it's 17 miles from J10 to J8.

I was going to mention this. Seems a lot quicker to use the A20 and cut back on to the M25 at the Swanley round-a-bout.

I was heading northbound once and missed junction 9. Eventualy turned round an found myself heading south!!!! Turned round at junction 8 to head north.
In a truck limited to 56mph, what a plonker!!!

Seems a long way, especially compared to the rapid fire jcs 8/9 to 3, but its only around 7 miles!

13-12 is a lot further

The longest junction is the one you have just missed, when you have an appointment...
