What is it with these bloody pc parts suppliers? I order a motherboard, a processor, a processor cooler and some memory. The stuff arrives minus the processor. I raise an enote (they don't answer the phone - well they put you in a queue on the premium rate line pretty quickly - and don't use email) and the result is an email pointing out that they have recreated the parcel and weighed it and it weighed the same as the parcel sent to me... therefore they shipped the processor and either I have falsely claimed it was missing or the couriers nicked it. They have told me that I must wait until their investigation has completed (which may involve the police) before I can receive my processor (which they have already charged my credit card for) assuming they don't find me guilty of falsely claiming that this processor is missing.
Now for starters, given the cardboard box is hardly a precision item, the variance in weight from box to box plus any difference in the amount of tape used to seal the box or bubble wrap chucked in would easily account for the weight of the 1.3Ghz duron processor wouldn't it?
Secondly, I have spent 1600 quid with them over the last year, why would I try and diddle them out of a 25 quid processor?
Any advice?
I have had poor experiences with Dabs, Scan and now Ebuyer - I'm fast running out of suppliers. Have none of these companies heard of customer service. They must be run along similar lines as Amazon and I have spent loads with them and while they occasionally make mistakes they have always rectified them immediately, what's up with these pc people?
Sorry for the rant, I don't like being accused of theft.
Cheers,
Mark

Chrissakes - don't these people want our business?
Never had any probs with Dabs - always been good to me, and ebuyer were fine although I have only used them once but this did include a replacement for a HD which was DOA which took about 8 days. Scan - Don't get me started on them.
One bit of advice I can give you put everything in writing from the word go - If I had I may not have the probs I have now with a bad choice of supplier - Good Luck

carzee - someone already has I've just found... http://ebuyerdotcon.funurl.com/
gopher - i bought a cd writer from dabs, it broke down after 6 months, I sent it for repair and didn't get it back for 6 weeks, after that time I got a brand new one (6 weeks to replace not repair!), after 6 more months the new one broke in the same way. They wouldn't replace it as I was outside my warranty - nice eh? The manufacturer (yamaha) didn't want to know either.
Regards,
Mark

You paid by credit card. Get straight on to your card issuer and raise hell. They can halt the transaction and put pressure on the retailer.
If the retailer has failed to supply your goods, they can't hang onto your money for ehat they haven't supplied.
You have rights in these circumstances, don't let them walk over you.
Good luck!

Don't get me wrong - i'm not making them out to be saints, just that I'd not had a problem, but i was aware that others had - I comiserate with you on your experience - I've currently got a long on-going dispute with another Co which has cost me around 2k so far, because I mistakenly trusted them to employ people who knew what they were doing and not choosing the cheapest option.
It all gets to be a bit of a drag after a while. I've tried supporting the cheaper firms on the basis that they are providing good value for money but they constantly prove that they actually provide a poor service if something goes wrong. I've also tried supporting the better quality firms on the basis that they provide a better service and charge for it... this rarely proves to be the case as they provide the same service as the cheaper guy but charge more for it.

Profit is king in nearly every aspect of life now sadly. Boo.

Ebuyer have concluded their investigations and apparently are satisfied that the processor was not shipped to me and are therefore sending me my processor by next day delivery. That's big of them isn't it. So I should get it a mere two weeks after first ordering it.
Edited to add: I reckon they must have either found the processor on the floor somewhere or my stroppy indignant consumer fax worked.
Can anyone recommend another supplier of pc bits please (prefereably someone you have had to return bits to and they have still provided a good service) that isn't Scan, Dabs or EBuyer?
So far the only supplier who has provided good service is PC World astonishingly (if you know what you're doing and don't ask any technical questions). Sadly they are pretty expensive and don't have that much choice.
Thanks,
Mark

Try www.cclcomputers.co.uk
I haven't actually returned anything to them but I have bought from them and know a lot of people who have also used them with no troubles. Hope this helps.

Personally I've had no problems from EBuyer in the past. Sometimes they ship different parts of a single order from different locations, which leads to a small rant developing before reading the small print...
Seriously, though, Novatech are pretty good, but usually find it hard to beat EBuyer's prices.
{edited to add:} Novatech's returns policy is a joy to use - we've known them to send the shipping company to pick up faulty equipment for replacement FOC.

I would recommend a little company called Atodini.
Its a small oufit and although they specialise in building PCs to spec and providing web design etc, they will also source and supply components, repair and rebuild PCs etc.
I have to add though that this is the baby of a mate of mine, so I might be a mite bit biased!

Don't go near PC World with a barge pole. I have a client at this very moment with a kn@ckered PC. With an extended warantee which is only good for wiping you're @rse with. They cover hardware but not software. Seems fair doesn't it except they use the software excuse for everything.
The PC my client has got worked fine for 10 months, XP crashed we recovered it with the recovery disk (supplied with the PC) and now it keeps crashing. Its been back twice now and each time the system has come back worse than it went. I took it with my client to PC World this morning seems their opinion that even though the O/S was sold with the system, and the only thing on the computer is the O/S and the machine crashes its not their problem, its Microsofts. Real good service that
