So anyways - long story short, just before new year I drowned my Ford Mondeo Diesel Engine.

53 reg TDCi. Ford main dealer had it for 4 weeks and have now finally swapped the engine out paid for by my insurance company (total cost = £4,000)

Picked it up today, wonderful until I got half way back to work when I noticed a whineing sound whenever the turbo kicked in. At first I thought a member of the thames valley safety camera partnership had got into the engine and was whineing whenever it thought the engine was about to speed, but no.

I have access to several of these cars and from what I can gather, it sounds like the turbo pipe is loose.

I have been calling the main dealers all day, and I called several other dealers and I could not get through to any of ther service departments becuase they all had a 3 week waiting list. I mean really are Ford cars that st??

So, I intend to go in there at 8am tomorrow morning and calmly ask that they finish the job while I wait as if you spend £4k on a fking engine repair at a main dealer, it would be nice if they actually finished the fking job!!!!

Ford customer care dont give a st, and nobody seems to want to rectify the fault. So are all the main names (Ford, Vauxhall, Skoda, Audi etc) this bad or have I just REALLY picked the wrong car this time round?!

Rant over

Yup!!!

That sounds like a main dealer.....they've got your money, so FK YOU BUDDY!!!!

Don't think it's just a Ford thing IMHO.

It's probably just a loose boost hose clip or summat, but I can see where you're coming from mate - WTF should you have to sort it out?
Just wasted time and grief you really don't need!

BTW, how did you 'drown' your engine????

I feel your pain! Tried for 7 weeks to arrange a test drive in an Audi S3 at the main Audi dealer in Glasgow... No joy. Eventually phoned the Audi customer care manager in the UK to tell her of my 'customer experience'. My phone rang 2 minutes later - it was the local main dealer - what a coincidence! Took the test drive - told him I loved the car so much that I'd already bought one from Germany, and saved £6k over list. The look on his face was just like the Mastercard advert.... Priceless!

Good Luck getting the engine fixed!

well this is what pees me off the most, I drove through a shallow ford (less than a foot deep) very carefully and it sucked up water. I mean where the **** is the air intake!!! on a scoop on the front bumper?!
