The advent of the police and government realising they can make a fortune on speeding motorists has brought about a massive market for detection goodies. Radar detectors, laser detectors, GPS speed camera positioning, radar or laser jammers, I-paq's with GPS camera software etc etc.

I used to have an old one from America ( a whistler ) that would go off all the time and even if I knew a GATSO was active wouldn't even bat an eye lid at it.

Whats the general consensus, do any of these things actually work or are they a load of old balls? Has anyone had a positive or negative experiences? Has technology improved enough to warrant buying one and are there any available which wouldn't involve me selling a kidney?

Ps...heard on a radio ad the other day about car alarms that linked with your mobile to tell you if your car was nicked. Anyone heard of this, if so anyone got a web address?

Yeah, you just need to get an asylum seeker (free delivery from most parts of the world), keep him in the boot of your car and give him a mobile telephone. If the car is ever used without him/her first being provided with rations of Evian and a Ginsters pastie, they phone you up. These websites may help:
