My mums 206CC was nicked the other night with the increasingly common 'break into house and take keys' technique - In a bid to close the stable door after the horse has bolted my dad fancies a PC based CCTV system - anyone know of any decent ones that don't cost the earth??

Not sure about how good you need the system to be, but I set my cctv setup using the pc card from y3k. It's better than a standard multiplexer as we have a 16 camera system running at 120 fps. This means at 10 cameras we still have a very reasonable frame rate, try that with a multiplexer and extended video camera! . I can get you a 10% discount as well on both the camera's and the capture card (tell you about it later ). I don't know how much you know about the systems, but they are bnc co axial wires, and can link to any camera. They can have sound capabilities too. check out the website www.y3kcctv.com. The pc systems can also be set to only record with movement detection, and requires no separate PIR to set it off (the pc distinguishes movement for you).
