Where were the ABD ....
Discussion
... when the new roads issue was being discussed on the news last night?
All we got from both the beeb and ITV was the usual T2000/environmental crap about "all roads bad" baaaaaaaaahhhh... "it'll only lead to more growth" baaaaaaaa :needasheepsmiley: The Beeb gave air time to the environmentalists damning it completely etc..... and then the sarcastic "predictably, the motoring groups (AA, RAC?) are welcoming this" Snotty bloody cow!
(This next bit after having watched Despatch Box) ...Even when it was pointed out that we spend less on transport infrastructure than pretty much every other European country, even though we are the 4th biggest economy in the world, and that Labour admitted having screwed up the transport policy , the T2000 chap wouldn't admit that sensible new roads would be a good thing. Crazy! Labour chappy (sensible one for once) came out and said that something like 90% of cummuting journeys are not and will never be possible with ANY level of public transport (T2000 HATED that bit!).
BUT WHERE WERE THE ABD???

Biased reporting really hacks me off. I bet the ABD were available for discussion and just not used.
Why can't some people get it in to their heads that the roads are not full of 'motoring groups' or rabid anti-environmentalists wantonly trying to destroy the planet. They are full of ordinary people trying to get to work/school/shopping or whatever, and freight delivering stuff for manufacture or sale.
I say improve public transport and improve the roads, or come to terms with the fact that economic growth is just a fantasy.
The biggest problem is that public investment in transport infrastructure never realises benefits within the life of the government that spent the money - it's a long term payback, and elections are won and lost on short-term sugary pills
