As I am suffering from a truly kicking hangover today A thought occurs

Why are drugs so rubbish, and I mean metaphysically, alcohol - why does it still give a hangover - why can't the same effects be given without a downside ?

Smoking, beer, cannabis etc all have big downsides - why - can't intelligent phers solve these trifles I am a natural consumer market for YOUR products - judging by last nights performance in considerable quantities too.

You could try drinking more water, both during & after the alcoholic intake. Works for me guv. Also quite cost effective...

Edited to say, What's the big downside of Cannabis again? I forget....

Ahhh, well I reckon that the optimal level of alcoholic imbibing is when you are drinking at a constant rate of about 17%. Any more, and you are pissing alcohol, any less & you are wasting time
So, with this in mind, the perfect rate is about a pint + a nip (As any old Scot will tell you)
So if you are drinking lots of spirits, then you might as well have the odd glass of water.

A lot of the hangover can be caused by the small amounts of methanol that is there along with the ethanol - gin & vodka have less methanol in them compared to, say, whisky or brandy, hence are less likely to cause hangovers. (The body needs a fair amount of water to deal with it, thus causing dehydration/hangovers)

All the above is purely my own opinion & the result of years of scientific experimentation

It's like, you know dude, nature's way of telling you there's a limit to how much fun you can have.
Think about it: unlimited use of alcohol without the downsides. Most people would never be sober again!

Exactly my point - why is there a downside.

i understand (usually) my body - I drank several waters through the evening and the usual pint of water before bed. Still Hangover...

But my point stands - saying its natures way - is abdicating responsibilty. It used to be natures way that man walked - then man invents TVR and 20 days a month man drives

So why can't we have drugs with no downsides (like in Iain Banks books)
