Despite the historic precedent to have rubbish local government. The top administrivia specialists are now going to impose themselves on our towns if they don't like the council. Todays fairly arbitrary set of results which grades local government will lead to an invasion of specially trained experts in sod all running the worst towns in the UK. Any elected officials who do not co-operate will be labeled as 'in denial' or biggoted. The net result will be Top council employees getting gardening leave and a fresh set of tossers brought in. What's the betting this leads to more bumps and cameras together with yet more tax on the community.

Yeah OK - but what would you suggest where not only the councillors are brain dead fcukwits (ie the norm) but also the senior officials (who are more commonly in posession of some kind of functioning brain, usually) as well?

I agree. However we elected them. How would you like your home to be deemed substandard by unelected officials, then have me sent in to run it?
