A Black Country owner of a £16000 high powered car plans to make a complaint to police after he was stopped and issued with a £30 fixed penalty ticket for driving all the way around a traffic island.
A ban on u-turns at a busy roundabout within the Merry Hill shopping centre has been put in place by Dudley Council to deter boy racers.
Between 8pm and 4am u-turns are barred on the roundabouts at either end of The Boulevard.
The council obtained a traffic order to introduce the ban as a means of stopping boy racers driving circuits around the centres roads.
Stuart Chance (23) said that the ban had only just come into operation and he had not seen signs before he was stopped by police on Thursday at 10.30pm.
The electrician said he had gone to the centre with a friend in his Subaru Impreza to visit the KFC fast food restaurant.
He said he was approaching the island along tThe Embankment and did not see any signs.
"I could not turn right into the road where the KFC is because of queing traffic, so i continued around and turned back the way i had come from. It was then that i was issued with a ticket".
Mr Chance said he was not a boy racer and he did not beleive the new restriction was fair to ordinary drivers.
"I know several other people were stopped and dealt with in the same way that night.
I am going to make a formal complaint at the police station about it".
Sgt Martin Acott, of Dudley North traffic police said the council had taken the step of introducing the night time ban because of complaints from residents about the activities of boy racers in the area.
"Signs have been put up on both islands.
They are quite visible and there are also warnings leading up to the islands.
My officers are merely enforcing the properly imposed restrictions".

depends....not knowing the place I dont know how much of a problem it is....
and for the guy with the IMP...if the signs really are obvious and clearly marked then it's his fault. What will he fail to see next time I wonder?
They recently changed a big roundabout in Hertford, and made two of the lanes 'All Routes' instead of straight on only. Of course all the peole who have been driving there for ages have totally ignored all the new stuff and carry on driving like they used to...and then bloody beep me for 'turning right in the left lane' or whatever...can't they read?!!! grrr....

There are quite a few roundabouts that have signs that allow you to turn right from the left lane. It's just a matter of reading the signs/roadmarkings
