Help!

I need to know this for a client...

If you wanted a shirt and had 100 fabrics to choose from, each of which could have one of three different collar styles, and three different cuff styles, and two different body shapes, how many possible combinations would there be?

I know someone on here has the maths to do it (or at least I hope someone has...)

Thank you! I just realised that the problem only gets bad if you can opt out of having a fabric, a collar, or a cuff! (Which you can't in this case!)

I think you'll find it is 1800*3=5400 combinations because each cuff could be different (assuming there are two cuffs).

I don't think 1800 is correct, because if you use this way of calculating the answer the chance of winning the lottery would be 294 when in fact it is approximately 13million!

I'll try and remember how to do it and post the answer later.

Nah - the lottery is not 49 x 6, it's 49 x 49 x 49 x 49 x 49 x 49 (i.e. 49 to the power 6) = 13841287201:1

odds of winning the lottery are 50x49x48x47x46x45=11,441,304,000

edit.. oops.. I meant 49x48x47x46x45x44=10,068,347,520:1

because the first ball is 1 in 49, the 2nd is 1 in 48, the 3rd is 1 in 47 etc..

Thats seems right but there is a way of working it out which involves the factorial key(n!) on a calculator.

for the lottery the answer is 13983816 which you get by 49!/(43! * 6!)
